GXp Navigation worth it or not

I had a 04 GTP Comp G untill that deer and i met head on.....Anyway, looking to get a GXP and i see a nice one with factory navigation installed and just had a few questions about it.
1) Over all quality of the head unit
2) Is On Star required to use the navigation
3) Is it worth getting or should i go with the 6-disk cd changer

has pretty decent quality. my friend has one with the nav. nice display. dont know about onstar though..

can't give you any feedback on the nav, but I had the 6 disc. I really liked it, worked very well, but one of the issues with it is that there is a constant hissing in the speakers when there's no music playing. Dunno if this is the same for the Nav, but something to consider. Like I said though, I liked it.

My 05 GTP has the Nav system. It has a huge learning curve to over come in order for it to be practical. You don't need onstar to operate the Nav as the Nav is DVD based (an expensive thing to maintain, Discs are only avail from GM). You lose some basic radio features that can only be explained by GM not doing a very good job of quality control (IE volume level indicator is non existent and Sat radio controls dont allow you to jump straight to a channel (unless its saved as a favorite). So you wind up channel up/down til you get were you want. Just a few of the quirks with that system. Overall it works well and sounds pretty decent.

how much foor just the head unit... I found an 08 with a monsoon sound system, but it has the single disk cd player (didn't know you could do that)
