GXP clunk from park to drive, drive to reverse..

need some help on this problem i have with my 08 grand prix. From park to drive or drive to reverse my car lets out a nice clunk/knock sound. I had someone look at the motor mounts while shifting the car and didnt appear to be the sound. I had them then look at the cv axle and seems like its coming straight from that. Almost as if the cv axle spins a hair before the wheel bearing moves then the sound occurs.
The cv axle has quite a bit of movement near the transmission(passenger side btw). Both the axle and wheel bearing has been replaced within the last 3 months. the noise started basically right after i replaced those parts. Faulty cv axle? surtrack gm-8226 is the part number...

Thanks

pop the hood, then shift it from P to R then to D, if the motor is bouncing a lot when shifting, its the lower mounts. you can also flip the dog bone mounts to help firm the engine up.

if the mounts are real bad the engine will twist in the engine bay when shifted from R to D or the other way round.

Did you replace them yourself? My gtp i replaced the wheel bearings and for some reason the bolts backed themselves out a little bit and was allowing the bearing to shift itself this also allowed it to slightly pull the cv joint apart. Just some ideas.

sorry i never updated this thread. But i noticed movement in the upper dogbone, so i replaced it with a Poly. The lower mounts were okay, but it was the CV axle again. After the second replacement of the same brand (warranty covered the second replacement) i went to an A1 cardone axle and have been fine since.
Dont buy surtrack lol
