Guns Guns Guns !

never heard of a prison where the guards are armed walking around inside the jail. transporting prisoners, sure. never in the jail.

and in NY, upstate that is. my brothers permit took about a year to actually have in his hand. no cc permit, just hand gun permit. lets hope mass is better then NY.

then of course, every gun you buy needs to dropped off at the police station for another week so they can sent it off to be shot so they have the round, and the shell.

Really The police get it first. I'd move out of that state.

yeah you have so many days to drop it off for ballistics testing, so they have it all, the shell for the hammer, and the slug for the barrel marks.

that will make you think twice before shooting a loved one lol

Pick whatever you want, but getting an auto similar to what they qualify with (Glock if they use Glocks, Sig if they use Sigs) will help/matter more than the caliber. Recoil doesn't affect me at all, and 9mm and .40 are pretty similar in feel anyway. It's .40 exists cause the 10mm was downloaded to ***** status.

.40s are great. I'd trust them a lot better than a 9mm. I'd carry my 10mm but as I said that would be considered a dirty Harry round in court.

Thanks for the reply. I didnt realise different manufacturers made that much of a difference. Luckily my gfs uncle is a lt. In mass doc. Ill have to ask him for more info.

Question for you guys. I'm going to be taking a beginners fire arm class and getting a liscense soon. Shortly after I plan on purchasing my first hand gun. Now I understand your first firearm means its time to practice, practice, practice, and repeat. This is more cost effective on a 9mm. But I will be entering the Department of corrections soon, a mass COs side arm is a .40 iirc. So my question is would it be more worth while to verify what I will be using as a CO and purchase/ practice on that directly?

Im not too concerned about CC at this point. I just want to be ready to go if the **** hits the fans in a prison one day.

Since most police/guards shoot glocks anyways, buy a .40 glock and get a .22lr conversion for it. You just swap the slide along with the barrel all in under a minute. Super cheap ammo for training will get you more time behind the gun. Like mentioned above I shoot my 1911-22 the most and really it's not as huge a difference from the 1911 .45 as one might think. It's more being familiar with the gun itself and all it's features. Ammo prices for 22 is about .04, 9mm .22, .40 was about .33 last I checked(I don't own one), and .45 is at least .40 a round but usually higher. Or just buy one of every caliber since the more guns the better ;)

Guns are like cars. Each one has a different feel and you have to adjust to it when using it the first time or after a hiatus.

for learning i always teach people to shoot pistols on my rugar p85. its a 9mm and isnt to expensive to shoot. easy to teach them how to take apart and clean and its an accurate gun

As with anything, the more you practice, the better you get at it until it becomes muscle memory. Choose a weapon that you feel comfortable with and shoot the heck out of it. Get some snap-caps and run dry fire drills several times a day. You'll be suprised how good you can get with any weapon with practice.

Lol... Liberal scare tactics. Governor of New York is looking to further outlaw assault weapons (they have one awb) and he has mentioned registrations, buy back, and possible confiscation. Yep, threatening with confiscation to help make people settle for less.

I dare anyone to try and tell me I can't own my weapons anymore...cause then they will be getting a fight.

if they basically do away with the 2nd amendment which is what they're trying for...it will make registered legal gun owners felons.....no judy, jury straight to execution...FEMA camps anyone?
