• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

GtpKo's 2000 GTP

Now that I've actually begun modding, I thought I would start a thread about my GTP.
I bought it back in March 2007 in Buffalo, NY. It had 102k miles on it, IIRC the total price was $6995.
This was taken just before I made the purchase.

First thing I noticed was a bad misfire under WOT. Didn't take a test drive first. I got a P0300. The prongs on the coil packs for cylinders 1,3,5 were all rusty! I changed plugs, wires, and took sandpaper to the coil packs and wow a whole new animal! First time I felt the boost kick in, I made one of those goofy laughs and couldn't stop smiling. It ran awesome for the next 2 years.

In 2009, the tranny blew. Sounded like shaking nuts n bolts in a coffee can. Not good. Had it rebuilt for $1350 over at Matt's Transmissions in Niagara Falls, NY.:th_thumbsup-wink:
In 2010 I put on new painted calipers and slotted/drilled zinc-coated rotors. The paint on the calipers didn't last 6 months:

Last December, I replaced the LIM gasket. What a job that was. I had no idea how messy that engine had become.

This spring I've done some more work.

Fix'd my intake, I used aluminum duct tape. Its very sticky, forms to whatever shape, and heat resistant. Oh and zip-ties of course:D
I'll probably re-do it again once I grab an extra intake duct I don't mind cutting up.

And my speed daddys... They get discolored, but not in a bad way IMO.

You're right. I'm not done with that intake. But it's better than that airbox for now. Fit right in there.

Anyway, I would like to give a BIG thanks to bluegtp91, BillBoost37, and DuBob among many others for getting me this far. Who knows I may call it a day after a 3.5 and a canned tune.

Do you live in Buffalo? i grew up in riverside, now i live in Medina for work. i havnt seen too many people on the forums from round here, but theres lots of nice GPs

Born & raised in Minneapolis, lived in Buffalo/Niagara Falls for 3 years, now in Toronto. Every time I take a trip to NF NY, I always see at least 1 nice non-stock GP. Tons of w-bodies around that area.

By the way, I know my car isn't the prettiest thing around, but I'm not as concerned with looks as much as function. I'll be fixing my $0 ugly intake soon. I'm in the middle of putting a new Magnaflow cat on.

Why bother with canned when will is close by?

Or Kevin from Car tuning?

Also thought that username seemed familiar from OQCGP.

Ok so after trying the PVC plumbing setup, I opened the hood after about 200km of driving and the filter totally fell off and was laying loose on top of the PCM:eek: Works for some I guess. Not me.

My 4th(?) design is pretty solid, just did it this afternoon so we'll see how this holds up.

Thats a tiny aluminum 22.5 angle tube, some foam sealing tape and 2 clamps.
