GTP vs 94 Mustang GT

The old 5.0's aren't really much faster than your average pedestrian car. From a dig, my car gave up a fender to my buddy josh's '90 convertible 5.0 with a stick and straight pipes. That's just sad haha.

I used to have a 95 GT Vert with the 5.0. My car was not as quick as my grand prix but the factory rating on it was 215hp/285ftlbs. With a higher curb weight and less power than my grand prix its quite understandable why its slower. They all do not sound the same by any means. A 5.0 and a 4.6 sound completey different and then a DOHC 4.6 sounds mean as hell to me and always has. I can pick out the different engines in them just by the sound of the exhaust. I have driven both and I loved the mustang because it was fun to drive. Nothing like going topless on a nice summer night :th_king-evil:. I have rode in a few quick mustangs to know that they are no more crap than a grand prix could be. While they are not quite as comfortable as a grand prix but they are not supposed to be. I rode in a 95 Cobra that was built up pretty good with spray on it. I have also rode in a 98 Cobra with a vortech s-trim i believe but i cant remember exactly that put down 435 at the rear wheels on a very conservative tune and then a 03 cobra vert that was at 502hp/480ftlbs at the wheels. Not quite sure what route he was trying to go but he had spray on it too and I think he told me it made 618 on spray. ANYWAY, each to their own.

Clearly you haven't encountered a fast Fox. I chuckle at the education you will inevitably receive.
I know of plenty of fast fox's, but I know plenty of guys who think their fox is fast and it simply is not. In fact, I would like to build a 331 stroker LX notch for a sleeper, one day. I'm saying that a stock or near stock 70's-90's 5.0 engine is about as exciting as watering my lawn.

That must be some lawn.

Lol at the mustang love in here. I've got an 85 notch and it looks much better than the GTP. And is a 1,000+ pounds lighter. My wife is gonna line up against me at the dragstrip. Shell be in the coupe and ill be in the FWD DD beater. Should be good times.

Besides there's no arguement. RWD>FWD in drag racing.

found this on motor trends site and all in all the blue oval is the fastest of the top three with the smallest motor. so to say they are turds is hilarious. the new 5.0 is a beast not to mention the aftermarket support all ready for them.

2011 Ford Mustang GT Acceleration Performance - Motor Trend

It's useless to even post that. Some of these guys are stuck in the V6 world. Or they got a Grand Prix because that's all they could afford. So they mod it hoping that one day it will be "fast".

One of the things ive noticed most about GP drivers is that their goal is to beat a LS1. :th_laugh-lol3:

i think that is every ones goal to take out an ls1. those motors are very intimidating but when i had my 01 ss i realized there wasnt as much of a aftermarket following as the mustang has and soon sold it and went back to the damn blue oval lol...

OR...

They just choose this plateform because they like it? For what these guys have paid for decent GTP's, they could have had a 2v GT or an LT1 fbody. A large amount of these guys mod GTP's because they want to, not because they have to...you gotta respect that.

LS1's have a huge aftermarket following bruh. Maybe more then the 2 and 3 valve GT's. I'm not really sure, and that's kinda hard to determine either way. I went from 2v gt, to an ls1, back to a 2v, and now the 4v cobra I have now. And I want another LS1 someday. The swapping around had nothing to do with a lack of aftermarket, and it certainly didn't have anything to do with modular mustangs being a better plateform lulz...I just prefer mustangs.

For the record...LS1's aren't fast in my book anymore.

Are you kidding me? No one in the right mind buys a GTP because they like the platform and that's the only reason why. If money or insurance wasn't an issue I seriously doubt people would be buying a Grand Prix. What you are telling me that if someone had the choice between a ZR1, exotic, insert x supercar that they would choose none of them and go with a Grand Prix. Seriously?

And if people could they would purchase a second or third vehicle and mod that starting with a better platform. Just like a few of us have. ;)
