Yep, Sold it to some young kid. I gave her a quick detail and shined her up real good before dropping her off. Hopefully the kid takes good care of it. He got a heck of a deal for $3000. Left everything in it besides a radio which I even included a modded stock 7 EQ CD deck with Aux mod.
I really doubt he will keep it as clean as I did, I couldn't stress enough about only running 93 octane to him even more if hes gonna run the DHP PCM over the stock pcm that I included as well. Hopefully he pays attention.
But yes! I went back to a Fbody. Picked up a 1983 Camaro Z28, which almost nothing original on it. Kid that owned it really abused it.
I swear to god, Driving it down the I55 home I kinda did miss the GTP. Although at the time, the z28 was only running on 6/8 cylinders and shifting at 3900rpm..
Fast forward 3 weeks and here she is now.
First thing i did was lower it. Ofcourse lol. Replaced all Sway bar bushings & End links, Both Tie-rods, Went KYB AGXs all around. Replaced the Tranny mount since it would bang the tunnel during Wot.
Fixed all 6 exhaust leaks it had. Yes Im serious. Driver side header had 3 bolts missing. Passenger had 1. PO Didnt know flanges required gaskets and didnt know that you had to weld/clamp slip joints together. Fixed all that and did a complete tune up and adjusted the TV cable and she runs on all 8! Shortly after I readjusted the timing for my needs. Then replaced the crappy flowtech headers for a old set of Hooker 2055s (Flowtechs are 1 1/2 primarys, 2055s are 1 5/8 and 2055s Ypipe ****s on flowtechs y pipe). Replaced the Edelbrock SP2P intake for a Performer RPM and the Holley 600 it had with a Holley 650 a neighbor had laying around. The car came with a flowmaster catback, it sounds ok, most say it sounds awesome. I will be going Borla most likely but looking into Powersticks (GMMG).
Car runs very good, I have removed all the idiot wiring the PO did to wire up his autozone special gauges/gizmos and got all the stock gauges working.
My plans are just having a good cruiser. New wheels are coming soon, Three choices are C5 DD's from Oe wheels, TT2's or refinishing the Irocs with a polished face and gold inserts.

You should lower it a TAD more, and put some fat tires on those wheels after you re-finish them (I'd have them chromed IMO)...get the windows tinted, get all red or blacked out tails...that's wat I'd do.
I've always liked the 3rd Gen's, just can't ever find a clean one that hasn't been beat to sh1t, someone asking an arm and a leg, or is riced out to kingdom come.

Anyways, Honestly... Dont miss the GTP one bit. Supercharger whine was fun though but I am on the lookout for a kit to come up locally to slap onto this 5.7 and have fun until either A. Blows up or B. Stays together and I enjoy it for a while.

Its getting lowered more actually, Just not now. Tire size on the Irocs are 225/60/16 which is like an inch? If I recall than the normal 245-50-16 I will be going with soon. Once I get the right tire size and get all my suspension goodies I plan to add installed, I will be finishing it off with a bit more low. Here is the kind of stance I want for it, Keep in mind this 91-92 Camaro will look more lower since the GFX are taller than the thinner 82-84 GFX.
Tint is being done this weekend actually. I want to do it before I reinstall the interior. I just finished applying POR-15 to the interior and topped it off with some Fat mat. Going 20% all around.

Look closely lol, Those were my old tinted tails from my 92 I had 3 years ago. I picked this 83 for $2000. I know honestly the way it was when I brought it home, no one would of paid that. I just knew the kid had no idea what he had and what was needed for it to be a good daily.
Nothing is original on this car. The old 305 is long gone, It now has a 5.7 with a Th350. 10 bolt has 4.11s. Interior was crap and I got ahold of a full tan interior that is year correct. Hood is from a 85-90 as you said. Wheels are not correct either. Gearbox is not original (Has quick ratio), Engine Harness is not original, anyways yes the car is far from original. I have owned 5 Thirdgens now and know every little thing that isn't right and this car is probably the most unoriginal out of all 5.
Still, body is solid which is surprising for a 83.
She needs alot of work to make her look good, but I know I can make her look good.
Actually, none. Weather sucks right now. I have however done alot of sliding around corners. Very fun.
225/60/16s are what are on the Irocs I have now are what I meant. 245 50 16 is what I will be switching to. :th_thumbsup-wink:
On the tires: that makes a lot more sense. They're 0.7" too tall for the car, wouldn't trust that speedo even if it had the right tires on it from the sound of it haha.
Sounds like its a perfect car for either a full resto or race car.

Im not the type to do a restoration. I like to fix my cars up equally. Best example is my 86 Firebird Base. Stock looking exterior with some subtle touches
This car is not going to be anything like my 86. My 86 was more of a sleeper type of deal. The 5.7 the Z28 has seems to be healthy enough to keep around. A Buddy of mine has a complete WC T5 setup he wants to get rid of for $400. Might go that route and call it a day drivetrain wise. Suspension wise, like the 86, everything is getting upgraded. Brakes are being upgraded to LS1 fronts and PBR rears like the 86.
Nothing too crazy, its going to get painted around may hopefully. Keeping it black and staying with the 82-84 GFX. Interior is being installed once tint is done.

So on my way to Round Lake to pick up a few parts for my 83, I happen to get a glance of a redfire GTP merging into the i90 from my rear view. Didn't think much of it and continued on. A min later I just hear the supercharger scream by me and I recognized the car right away from the Eagle wheels and Slp Gen 2 Spoiler.
I catched up to him and noticed the car is pretty much in the same shape I sold it to the kid but I can tell he hasn't even waxed it since he bought it. He recognized me right away and I asked him if hes done any performance upgrades and said he dropped to a 3.4 from the 3.5 it had and added rockers. The GTP was basically a 3.5, PLOG, DP, Tune, Ported Gen 3 when I sold it to him.
After our little quick chat, he decided to get on it and I chased. I let off alot when chasing him and I knew he was all out by the M90 whine. I line up next to him and honk it off from 62. I put about 4-5 car lenghts to 114 before letting off. Gave him a thumbs up and got onto my exit.
The car has come a long way in a month. I have done alot of suspension upgrades, Rebuilt Moog front end (Tie rods, center link, ball joints, etc), KYB AGX Struts & Shocks, Intrax Springs, Founders Performance PHB, LCA, LCARB. Swapped the intake for a Performer from the SP2P, Dialed in the Holley 4160 more. Gave it more timing (10 initial, 34 total). Still have to swap out the 1.5 Flowcrap headers for the Slp 1 3/4s and replace the Flowmaster muffler with the Borla XS.
Right now my plans are maybe picking up a Vortec 350 and convert it to Carb and do the needed head mods and drop in a Lt4 hot cam and go 700R4. The th350 is nice but man I miss OD.
Anyways Here is a few recent pictures.

Exterior plans are Hawks 5' Spoiler, and a 2' Cowl hood since right now I have basically no clearance with the hood with my setup. Wheels are still undecided. Had a good lead on a local 2' hood but fellow never called me back.

Very nice update.
I havent updated this in a long time. Finally started browsing the forum again since I helped a buddy of mine put together his t67 l67 build.
Here are some pictures of how the 83 is doing. Daily driven. Since my last update its been through two transmissions and three rear ends. Currently running a fresh 700r4 with a vigilante 2800 and a beefed up 10 bolt with 4.10s. Same motor as before but has a new top end. Exterior wise had 85-90 gfx done and rolling on tt2s now. 315s in the rear and 275s up front. Full suspension besides tubular kmember. Pretty much has evolved into a monster. T56 6 speed swap is coming up in the next upcoming months and 9' rear for peace of mind.
