• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

gtp exhaust size.

What is the best Body length magnaflow to get I'm going with the 2.25 in. inlet/outlet with 5X8 but i dont know what body length to get?

Depends on what you want...chambered gives you a deep rumble at idle but without head/cam work and any sort of resonator or glasspack they sound crappy @ WOT. Quiet, Dynomax or Magnaflow...Borla's have been pretty good and a local here has Thrush mufflers from Advanced and they actually don't sound that bad but al he has is a 3" catless DP with the stock catback/stock resonator. They are cheap mufflers too...like 20 bucks a pop.

so the thrush mufflers are cheap and sound good?

im keeping my stock resonator cause i dont want rasp. so whats better than thrush/dynomax then? if its gonna cost twice as much though il just stick with the thrush.

You have them? I've heard them in person...and I think they don't sound BAD. They sound ALRIGHT...and for $40 for 2 mufflers...they sound better than stock does.
I had them on my 97 GTP, The idle was ok but i didnt like them, they droned for me, but they were only on for a week or two before the motor spun a bearing after a trip up north.

yeah the less drone the better. there just seems to be too many options and everyone has a different opinion about exhaust. i just want something cheap, and sounds good. little rasp and drone, and it can be with the resonator or mufflers. so im pretty open to ideas.

the cat really make that much of a difference? didnt know that. what about emissions. im going to be living in chicago, IL the next couple years and idk what they have rule wise with emissions.

Well check out your local emission laws. You can always have a shop take the cat off, gut it...and then weld it back in.

What about sound wise?

SLP? no? They sound really nice. Smooth and Deep. No ricer raspy sound. I'll post up a vid later when the sun is out. Have you experinced SLP on a GTP?

Just curious about the cat, its starting to get really cherry red at night and was considering cutting it off
