GT vs eclipse

Ok so yesterday night as I was driving home from working a double, normally the street that i was in has a good amount of traffic, As I was the only car at the stop light, I noticed a pickup truck on the cross street made a left hand turn and now he was on the same street and on the same side of the road as I was on. Anyways I noticed that a truck with really bright lights was right behind me and its lights were reflecting on my rear view mirrors so I really couldn't see much around me, just then a car with a really loud fart can pulls right next to me. as he some what revs his engine I turn and look at him and thats when it came to me that he wants to race. I didn't want to race since I was really tired, so when the light turned green I let off the on the brake and my car slowly starts to roll I just wanted him to keep on going but that wasn't the case, he started to roll as well, thats when I noticed that it was a early model 2000 eclipse. Well I said to myself screw this, so I tool off and I heard him take off as well. We cross the intersection and we are pretty much neck and neck as I was only at half throttle I started to pull away, since we were getting close to the pick truck that had made a right turn into the street that I was in, I had to pull ahead so I can get in front of this eclipse so I don't hit the truck. Now I'm in front of the eclipse not even at full throttle yet the eclipse is right on my tail we pass the pick up and then I floor it and all I see is the eclipse falling back. by the time I look at my speedometer I'm pushing 80 mph I let off on the gas, head home and don't see the eclipse again.
 


i was all about the eclipse before. moved to the gtp so my lady could drive when i am unable to perform that task. 1,2,4 are good. 4g63 is an amazing motor.
 


4G63 isn't in the new gen.

And the only reason the 3G is garbage is the looks IMO. My buddy has a RIPP supercharged 3G GT running 7psi and it ****s and gets for the most part, solid high 13's car. And why a GTS? They just had 10 more horse than the GT and are less mod safe thanks to the higher compression.
 
He never said 4G63 was new gen, he just said it was amazing.

Also, they are **** because of their weight ratio or something. I forget, but I read up on it awhile back. They're just not quite as good.

I was playing Midnight Club and laughed when I found out you could drive the 2nd or 4th gen Eclipse, but not the 3rd. =P
 
i know 4g isnt 4g63 sorry for the mis lead. but yea after 1 and 2's i paid no attention. i just had to do a little research to see that the gts was hiring hp rating, so i chose it as the top 3g eclipse
 
I gotcha...only reason my buddy chose the GT over the GTS was the fact it was cheaper and you could boost it more than 5psi. I was gonna say I thought you had said the 4G63 was in the new 4G...would be nice to have a 4G GSX, but it'll nevah happin :p

I say Evo IX all the way. Who cares about anything else LOL
 
i love that motor but the cars are gettin to old. and everyone out there has been just beat on especially by 16 year olds cause they are so cheap. had to take it up one step i guess. ha. most turbo eclipses and Srt-4 neons are just asshole drivers
 


I know! I had a friend that did some small mods to his beat up eclipse, then traded it for an older Talon, which is really the exact same car... also seen a few eclipses and talons at the auto auctions in des moines that were running mods and fart cans. woo.
I could keep going with my numerous eclipse stories but... you get the point.
