GT motor into GTP

Im dropping a 98 gt motor into a 99 gtp. the gtp split the piston in half because the previous owner is an idiot. Anyway i got the GT motor for free and it runs strong so thats why its going into the gtp. I plan on top swapping it later with a series 3 GTP top end when i have more time. everything should bolt up correctly if i have done my research right. just wanna double check with some folks who have more experience than me

Because i'm broke from buying Christmas stuff lol. But i also dont know if the trans is any good yet either. the guy that had the car before me is an idiot. to give you an idea he forgot a lower intake gasket on the gtp enigne....

Oh

Well if it were me, I would take both engines and swap the l67 stuff to the l36 IF the heads aren't damaged

well i have everything from the heads up off a gen 3 gtp comp g including the supercharger. besides if i wait i can make sure everything is done right instead of rushing it. but next time the motor comes out im doing a cam and E85:th_devil:

Ok

I guess I was thinking if you had both engines out, you can easily take the gtp parts off and put them.on the gt engine.

The series 3 supercharger and intake manifold could go on later when you get those parts since you plan on doing a cam
That way it's pretty much the same engine, same tune until you swap superchargers and cams

you need to swap the l67 flex plate or the the tc wont bolt up right. bolt pattern is not the same. the fuel lines wont reach right, but can be dealt with. evap is on the front, vs the rear of the gtp, so longer pig tail (cut and splice more wire) or move the evap. the map sensor, you need a l36 pig tail swapped in place of the gtp's.

other then those things its a direct swap.

But hey it's simpler ;)

right lol no way id just drop a l36 in, its out and it sounds like you got the top swap parts already, so buy head gaskets and do it now. you should be doing the lim gaskets on the l36 anyways. whats two more gaskets and new bolts?

well, i guess i might as well. ill have to get payed again and email zzp and have tell them to change the tune. I do have the heads and all from a 05 gtp, i guess i would buy head gaskets for a 05 gtp?

the only other thing you should get is headers. or tell zzp your running stock manifolds. headers will help a ton tho.

ive read on other forums and such that the fly wheel has to be balanced to the motor or you could mess up your crank, bearings, ect. is that true?
