Hello!

Another new guy here. I picked up a nice 2001 GTP a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier with it! It's especially sweet for me, a 50 something father of 2 teenagers who hasn't had a nice vehicle in many years. But no more emarassing minivans for me! And my 15 year-old son is now bragging to his friends that Dad has a cool car. He's quite a mechanic in his own right, nearly finished rebuilding his 91 S10 pickup and he doesn't even have a driver's license yet. He's pushing me to mod the GTP lol! At least it will be two of us against mom on that front.

Anyway, it's good be here. You guys have an oustanding site!

Today I had to put some cash into my new moneypit. Oil/lube/filter, fuel filter, serpentine belt, wheel hub assembly (ABS and TCS lights were lit) plugs and wires.

On the "to do" list: coolant flush and fill, and a tie rod (not bad but it needs to be done) and those damn lousy headlights!

After I get the routine maintenance done I'm looking to do some mods, but probably not until the Spring. The car is very clean and only 120K miles on it so I think it's prime for getting a few more horses out of it.

I'm very happy to have found this site, there is a ton of great information here.

Already visited the "safely modding" page but I do thank you for the link to exhaust information. Great stuff there! This is where I intend to start so this is very helpful.

Worth noting Speed Daddy's will be around $270-280 to your door.

Also requires some more "parts".

Also have information on a very good 3" cat that will let you pass your e-test no problem if you need it.

Yes I'd like more on the cat. I have a file going where I'm putting away information for down the road. And as long as I'm talking to a fellow Canuck, can you give me an online parts supplier or two that doesn't rape us for fees and shipping. I was given Rock Auto by someone here which looks good. I'm going to replace my headlights soon.

The cat is a Magnaflow 46009. CARB compliant cat for a 2002 Caddy.

Magnaflow 46009-Magnaflow Universal Catalytic Converters-California OBDII-Hottexhaust

Use discount code "superhonda" and it should be just under $200 with taxes.

I tried to contact kevin from Cartuning because I heard his cats were good... But he didn't seem to want to sell me one (no response).

Here were the results with the 46009 welded into speed daddy headers with their stock leaky flex:

Idle:
Limit Reading
HC 150 11
CO 0.70 0.00

ASM2525:
Limit Reading
HC 58 11
CO 0.32 0.00
NO 435 3

Supposed to be warrantied for seven years as well, as per California law. We'll see how it does next e-test... However they ARE changing the scheme and its yet to be released how exactly a pass or fail will be determined. All they've released is that it relies on OBD II alone. No more tail pipe sniffers or dynos.

Pics of the car please, mine is 2001 GTP coupe with 84,000 miles on it.

I have all ready replaced my headlights, lens were so bad after 60,000 miles could barely even tell they were supposed to be clear. I have also replaced the back lights as well for the common problem of them letting water leak in.

The car is running REALLY nice with the maintanance done! Easiest and best way to get a few more hp. I'm not doing any mods until EVERYTHING is up to snuff and I've driven it for a couple months. Winter is not a great time to be working in an unheated garage, this is why I don't really expect to do much until spring. But I have GPForums to keep me busy in the mean time. :) A few more things to do - headlights next ASAP! I also have a cracked rear bumper that needs replacing. Oh, and rustproofing (damn Canadian winters) Not a spot of rust on it right now though, it was Crown rustproofed every year. This is a big reason why I got this car and why I'm keeping it for the long haul.

I'll get some pics up soon.
