• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Hello, my name is Michael and I'm from a small town next to Munich. I inherited a Grand Prix LJ 1978 with factory t-top in Nov. 2012. My father bought this car brand-new in Munich and now it's my duty to restore it.

I start studying to become a teacher in october and there's a lot of work waiting for me. :D

That's very cool. Don't see many older model Grand Prixs on this site. Post as many pictures you can of the progress you make I'd love to see it. Oh and welcome!

I'll update this post with new pictures of the progress as soon as possible. :D

There's a reason for that...most of the G-body and older cars here in the states became rot boxes. Or they went to be race cars...or they just got neglected and beaten to death. Pick your poison. It's nice to see a survivor...even if it is in Germany.

Ya that's true but i think the main reason is because it's mostly older guys that own them and don't know about or want to be on a car forum. There's a few around the Buffalo area for sale though.

I had several G body cars, 79 cutlass and 86 grand prix with t-tops. They all ended up having small block chevy 350's with 4 bolt mains.

They all sounded great compared to the 3800 v6.

Hello guys, my GP Project is still be working but I encountered a problem. The body mount bushings are ****ed up and i'm desperately in need of new ones. I already asked Energy Suspension and Prothane but both couldn't help me. Does anyone of you know where to buy/find a kit?

Thanks for your help.
Greetings from Augsburg :)

that's a bit confusing because a prothane staff member told me that there was no kit for my car and he suggested using universal bushings :th_scratchhead:

I miss my A/G body... I actually used a steering column out of a late 70's GP when I changed from column to a floor shifter. I don't think I have ever seen a GP of that vintage without a floor shifter.

On the OP's car I don't think I have ever seen a factory installed front electric fan, also the trans cooler looks like a factory installed option too. I have not seen one in the US, have any of you guys?
