• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Great news!!!!

I don't think you will be able to get a set of rings for one piston. You are better off replacing them for all 6 cylinders to maintain consistency across the board.

How much of a PITA was it to get the engine out, between you, the wife and a few others I've decided to keep the car. Just need a hand getting the engine out of the car. :)

getting the motor out is pretty easy. getting the motor AND transmission out is a little trickier.

You know....I read the title...and the first thing that comes to mind "I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance my switching to geico!" Anyways!!!!!!! I seen your pictures on myspace! Keep up the good work =)

i have only done one or the other. motor out the top, tranny out the bottom. never had to do both at the same time.

supercharged VOLO resident we did it the hardcore motor pulling way.... get a 4x4 piece of wood "mail box post" some chain some bolts 3guys and get that $(%(% out ha we didnt have a engine hoist only a engine stand so we man powered that block out perfectly =] but we will have a engine hoist this weekend family friend is letting us barrow it so we can build the engine outside the car and drop her in and go. =p anybody know where i can buy 1 connecting rod? and 1 set of piston rings for ONE piston not all. im still amazed at how luck i am because of where the skirt broke =]

LMAO!!! I remember the old days...18-19 years old dropping the trans out of my buddie's old Malibu (RWD) with a block of wood and a floor jack. Ahhh..the good old days!!

I just picked up an engine hoist and engine stand last weekend, just have to assemble them. If you get a picker, go to Harbor Freight, I got a picker and stand for about $200 for both. I went to the one in Arlington Heights, it's a pretty cool store, lots of toys! :)
