grand prix's and all their freakin problems

ok so i've had the car for about a year and a half and so far i've needed to replave the battery, alternator, starter, and now my water pump is leaking. i also have a weird rattling noise coming from the engine and was told it was the torque converter by a fellow 3800 owner but who knows. and the struts need replacing which is understandable for a car now with 153k miles on it but still, i feel the need to b*tch.

Doesnt sound like to many issues. Esp for a older car with 150K miles

So what have I replaced in mine other then brakes, sparkplugs, plug wires, and normal fluids? humm, well I replaced the LIM gasket a few years back. My cars been supercharged(zzp-m90 kit) for 4 years, seen 70 track pass's and dynoed 280whp. Ive yet to have a issue thats not considered normal maintance. Oh wait I almost forgot! I had a window switch go bad lol

Knock on wood I have only had to replace one thing that I didn't plan on replacing when I bought the car...when you buy used you HAVE to check it out first. Mine needed wheel bearings and headlights so I said fix it or give me that amount of money off so I can fix it myself, and they did....Since then the only thing that I didn't plan on replacing that went bad was my passenger side CV..I've done one set of brake pads and front struts but I knew thats what needed to be done when I bought the car, so it was no surprise...check it over good so you know what will need to be done to make the car run well for a long time

I've had my GTP for a week and already i've changed the BBV, Coupler, 1 Wheel Bearing, 1 Tie rod end and I still have a list of crap to fix ...

typo the car has 133k miles. but ive also replaced both front and rear brake pads. idk now that all you guys list what you've had to replace i guess it isnt so bad but it sure seems it when everytime i save up some money it goes into something that breaks on the car. i just feel like my hood is up far more than anyone elses on the street, its that type of thing

Sounds like the previous owner wasn't anal about maintenance. It's part of life and cars that you have to deal with when buying a car it's a hit or miss towards a lemon.

well you are 1/2 right, 15 lines of text, and you make no mention of your cars problems, or lack of, so it seems like u singled me out for no reason, at least i get my point across, unlike a lot of people who babble on and on like they have no clue what they are asking, or talking about.

i've owned at least 20 cars and do all my own work on them, so i've had grease up to my armpits over and over, pulled engines, trans, rears, AND REBUILT IT TOO, what ever needed to do be done I've done MYSELF. so if my rants can help someone, Im happy, i sure have learned a thing or 2 reading others peoples problems.

ya know what i looked into his posts before i posted MY last response to him just to see if i thought he actually contributes and his post are useless for the most part, that looks cool, its ugly and so on , plus he don't even own a 3800 anything, hes got more worthless bs posts than benji did, and i didn't start this, another fool did with his sarcastic response, a few other people made the point of not having a block of text, with out being a complete assholes about it, unlike these last too children.

oh and zr1vette09 everyone can read the chat log up top here so if your nerd ass is scared of bio getting on you for being out of line, i bet you think you were out of line then, as i believe you were and still are. and you called yourself a nerd not me, i know why you got bullied, you don't know when to but out.

When I bought my car in '07 , it had 102k on it. Only issue then was rusty coil pack prongs, I knew that was an easy fix. Since then, I've had 75k more miles and new battery, new plugs twice, wires, coil packs, tires, calipers(front), rotors (front twice, rear once), 3 of 4 brake lines blew/replaced, blower motor & module twice, door latch froze up/replaced, oh yea and a new tranny.

I still need to do the LIM, broken sway bar, rear pads/rotor, quick strut for rear, e-brake cable, and that 4th brake line before it blows too. Oh yea and plugs again since last time I used copper. Need mufflers soon theyre rusting out.

But hey still beats being locked into making payments for years and years.

Lets see OP. I feel your pain man.I bought my 01 GT a year and a half ago and it had problem after problem.Brake booster replaced,pads and rotors done several times due to bad caliper,upper intake manifold done,tranny rebuild,two batteries(wrong one the 1st time), new starter,head gasket done along with broken valve spring, control arm bushing,master cylinder replaced, battery cables replaced,and went through 2 sets of used tires.All in a 1 1/2 years.While paying the damn car note.Baby runs fine now just a little exhuast leak and needs wheel bearing.Oh yeah A/C is warm but oh well winter is coming lol
