Grand Prix GXP Shocks/Struts Options - HELP!!

extreme

I have been noticing a little clunking from the rear of my 05 GXP. Well today I was walking out of work to notice on both rear tires the innersides of the tires are wore away pretty bad!

Started looking and noticed that they are rubbing the struts with any amount of weight in the back. So looks like the springs are starting to wear (with only 80k!) and believe the struts are possibly going bad as well.

So I am looking to replace FRONT & REAR Shocks/Struts & Springs. What are my options? I really enjoyed the feel of the bilsteins but the dealership quoted me an outrageous price ($1600 or something) for just the shocks & struts.

Does anyone have the exact model numbers on the bilstein's? Or a good place to purchase at decent prices?

What have your replaced your factory GXP shocks/struts/& springs with? Any advice? Im looking to stay in a reasonable price. Might consider lowering just a bit, as long as I wont have clearance issues with factory wheels/tires.

I need to do these soon as this is my DD right now until my trucks out of the shop. This is not winter driven either!

If your tires are rubbin your strut I'd look at your hubs and make sure they don't have any play in them. Also, camber bolts are almost a must for 04'+ GP's

You can't do reasonable and GXP struts.

Namely because they're bilsteins.

They probably arent the cause.

If they are, they can be rebuilt for less than new ones.

The more I read, I believe its an alignment issue. However I have not checked the hubs yet.

Also what exactly are the Camber bolts? What do they do? Where can I get them?

you shouldnt need camber bolts if your setup is healthy, especially in the rear. camber bolts are just an egg shaped bolt that will allow you to adjust camber. it is easier to slot the struts if you need it adjusted, though.

I have yet to see a GP that doesn't wear the inside of the rear tires out first straight from the factory. Camber has always been an issue, even on my 99' I had cam bolts on at least two corners. Slotting the hole is probably the better way but I always thought it easier to simply slip different hardware in. My 06' GXP had camber issues front and rear when I bought it new, it also needed two new hubs on the corners that were out the worst after only 30,xxx. Perhaps I've just had bad luck..

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but, I've also started looking for new struts. The dealer also wanted to charge me an absorbid amount and I haven't found any parts for the GXP. My ride has gotten extremely harsh lately (86k miles) on my 06 gp gxp. Thoughts, anyone?
