GPF.com GXP Owner List - Post Up Here!

Re: GXP owner list

Gxp's are growing...everybody's buying them!!! Welcome 1 welcome all!!! BTW guy who just bought 1 up there...how many miles? Any modifications done to it ie transcoolee shift kit rebuilt tranny
It has 44,000 miles, nothing special done as far as I know. Charcoal with grey interior. I will pick it up Thursday / Friday and if anyone cares I will snap some pictures. If I read something right on this forum, for some reason there was only 2,501 made that year (2007). Then I found the car and driver article where they tested, 0-60 in 5.7 seconds. 0 - 130 in 30.9 seconds. 1/4 in 14.3 seconds. I had a 69 Super Bee, with stock E78 tiers, that you really had to baby off the line that just did 14.8. I not sure what a stock 383 4bbl put out in horse power, but it may not have been much more, if any. As I said, just have had a lot of Grand Prix, this is my first GXP.

I don't want to get a bad rep, but to confess I almost did not buy it. It was just too good a deal to pas by. I am a little worried about it being a daily driver. My commute from SW OKC to OKC is about 100 miles a day. I usually give the new car to my wife to drive (who is a retired school teacher), to keep the miles down. Then when I retire my driver, I take hers and buy her a newer one. That is one of my problems, is it legal for a great grandma to drive a car like this? :-) I already told her, that I will need to drive it at least once or twice a week. :-) The 5.3 gave me a lot of concerns since I have never had one. I can put a water pump on a 3.8 with blind folded and one hand behind my back. Watch for grease on the firewall to know when a CV is going to be failing. You can't even see the firewall on this one. :-) So on and so on. Also the fuel milage is worrying me, when it gets handed down to me and my commute.
But I did buy it, and as stupid as this sounds, after I wear it out, this one I may keep as a project. Usually when one wears out, I run it across the auction. This one, once it is not my daily driver, of course will have to rebuild the engine and maybe the trans :-), then I will play with mods. Until then I will just sweat working on it. :-) Just from what I read on the web, replacing the serpentine belt, looks fun.

Re: GXP owner list

Serpentine belt isn't that hard. 91parkave did a great write up on it. Ur first things id recommend as soon as u can is a tranny cooler. And drop the tranny pan and do a filter change and a trans go shift kit to help with the tranny lasting longer. Also an oil catch can is a great idea as these cars like to eat oil. U bought yours with only a couple 1000 more than I did mine. And you can greatly improve your gas mileage and power buy getting a tuner. If u know what ur doing HP tuner is the way to go. If u don't trinity custom tune from Lew.

Re: GXP owner list

Might insert links to tranny cooler an tuners lol and congrats on the find lol and a you drive it you'll want to mod it!!! I sai oh I won't mod till its paid off but look lol
