GP Vs. RX8

Well i just purchased a white 2007 GP and one of my close friends has an RX8, when the weather gets alittle warmer were gonna drag. If any of you know these RX8 owners they worship their rotary engines like its the best thing ever invented. I wanna kick his *** in my GP but its only the V6 3.8 w.o S/C so im not so sure how well i'd do h2h from a dead stop. What do you guys think about this one?

RX8's are a piece of crap. Driven them, worthless.

I am very much an admirer of Rotary engines but the RX8 has had its issues and they build power much differently than a pushrod V6 and dont have the torque, so I think you will probably take him down.

90 or not...150 ft. lbs. of torque = FAIL

Granted they only have 1.3 liters and wrap out around 8-9 grand...but they probably only make about 175-190 RWHP anyways...lame.

Use that good ol' Pushrod 3800 Torque and destroy that rice bucket ;)

Put and intake on your car for good measure and go past 90 :p

the biggest question hasent been asked... auto or manual
huge difference there
if its auto it will be easy run for you
if its a manual and he can drive at all you will have your hands full and most likely will get taken on the top end.

its really suprising how big of a dif it makes with those cars. and no they dont wrap out to 9k RPM
closer to 7500RPM

yeah, 7500 on the auto

i think the stick goes to 9000, theres a guy here on Staten Island with a custom plat that says 9kredline, but hes not match for my QWIK3800

Yeah he has a red 2007 rx8 manual with a MS intake.
One person says dont go past 90 another says go past 90 lol im confused :th_question1:
I'm looking into an intake now to see if i can beef it up alittle before the summer, any suggestions on a CAI?

TDC Racing's Intake will suit you just fine! He sells his stuff on this site. PM him.

one of my closest friends had a rx8, with an axle back exhaust and a test pipe, best he ran was a 15.5. The manual ones rev out, when i drove it i revved it out at 10k no problem. The power band in those cars are very different. Nothing down low, but it picked up a bit around 7-10k. I think you would need an intake, pcm, 180* t-stat, maybe a plog then you would hand him his as*

Yea i parked next to a mazdaspeed rx8 a few months ago at a bar. the mazdaspeed came with an intake, strut bar and some extra trim. it was a manual. i was sitting next to a kid at the bar and i saw he had a mazda keychain and sure enough it was his. he seemed real honest. he said he loved the way it handled but it was pretty slow all around. he was talking about his brothers civic "with a lot of mods" beating him.

stock gearing on the gp, 2nd is going to top out around 90 (2.93 gears) 3rd has NOTHING when it comes to racing. i had an 06 n/a. thats why i say dont go past 90.

not 04 plus. i think the gt's did untill 05 but after that n/a gp's have 2.93's

like i said i had an 06 and 2nd would do 90 plus
