GP GXP 2007 tire sensor

I have a GP 2007 GXP. I love this car. I try to keep it always "tip top". Right now the DIC indicates that I need to service the tire monitoring system. When I scroll to the individual tire sensors it accurately shows all but the Right Rear tire...instead of numbers for that particular tire it just shows dashes.

So I am thinking that only the sensor in that tire is bad. Right or wrong?

If that is true...what is the most likely reason? Are there batteries in those sensors / could that one be going bad?

can the batteries be changed?

if I cannot change the batteries what is the best replacement method?

if I replace one sensor should I replace all?

Can a "tire place" replace the sensors or is this best done by the dealer? I want to make sure the replacement parts work as well as the factory original sensors.

thanks for any help. I have tried to Google for a solution and I have searched this forum, but I only see instructions on how to reset the DIC. My DIC seems to be fine...I think it is the right rear sensor that is the only issue. What do you guys think?
 


They have a battery, most of the time they say the life is anywhere from 7-10 years but thats useally never the case.

You can not replace the battery itself on the GM ones, nor can you on pretty much any other vehicle as they are sealed inside the sensors case.

Its not worth it to spend the money and replace them all if they still work.

Just have a local tire shop change the sensor. I change them all the time at work, either the customer buys the sensor themselves or we buy them and install them.

A dealership can sell you one, but they charge an arm and a leg for one, so we use NAPA sensors and never have an issue with those ones. After the shop installs it, they should be able to reprogram it to the car. Ask before hand if they can program it or read your owners manual to see if you can do it yourself as some cars can do it that way.
 
You have to have TPMS to see it, so metal valve stems, not rubber ones.

Otherwise you have to go into button that scrolls through the light controls, door locks etc etc, its near the end. I'm just going off hand here though.
 
I know I have a tire monitor system and I aware I've seen TPMS some where in my car. I'm going to investigate this tomorrow morning
