so those stronger solenoids will allow my door to open if it slightly freezes shut? I know I shouldn't do this but in the past I have had to pour hot water on my door to open it.

The solenoids only pull the latch like the handle does...if the door itself is actually frozen shut, you need to have a means to break the seal, no different then with the handle.
