So I raced a Chevy volt today I pulled up and asked if he wanted to run them thinking I was gonna smoke him well we both took off when light turned green both burned the tires a little he burned them worse then me I had him by a half car till 30ish then he pulled a half car on me and kept barely inching away let off at about 80 and he had a car on me I asked him what was done to it he just smiled and said a few things... I was Preety embarrassed like really.. a Chevy volt what are these things capable of..by the way I got a intrigue with the 3800

Yea I don't really care it just really shocked me I was looking online a bit and with a good tune you can get those things running mid 5 seconds 0-60

Really surprised it would start to pull on you and keep hanging all the way to 80.
Never driven a chevy volt, but I have driven a nissan leaf. It had a surprising amount of zip right off the line, and went pretty good right up to about 40-50 mph, but after that didn't have a lot left.

when running 100% electric they make way more 'horsepower' than you think. electric motors are very, very strong.

I'm fully aware of an electric cars capabilities. A toyota prius is not going to make enough torque even in all electric to be a contender to even a honda civic. I'm not impressed.

They don't make horsepower, they make torque.

Tons of it.

With all of it from 0 RPM. It's literally impossible for a combustion engine to match the instant power, but the torque curve is horrid...it falls off very fast once the car gets going.

You guys are under estimateing the volt...you watch in 20 years electric cars will be the king of speed Wich I don't like to admit

The people who is dogging on me and saying no way a volt can be fast well I got a high 15 second car volts are rated at 16.6 stock so that's a big jump from stock little things can make electric fast

I got to take one around a test track at a GM event when they were pretty new. My wife and I were very surprised and how hard it pulled off the line. They are no joke even stock. With a few mods I am sure they make a decent sleeper.
