Good run, gone bad

well, I met up with Bio today up in Wisc. We had a few runs. 1st 2 we were neck and neck..with me pulling a little on topend.

The last one I think I jumped the gun by a split second.. but I pulled a car?

I turned around to come home. I get 14miles down the road, cruise control set at 80mph, sunroof open, windows down, stereo going.... THEN

WWWHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHH!

nothing but smoke out the back of the car, and a high pitched squeel from the motor.:th_angry2:

I believe the head gasket went, and well coolant in oil spun the bearing... I drove. literally 45 miles limping the car home. coolant stayed at 180... motor smoking like a fire.

I pull it in the garage. I pull the dipstick. oil on the very tip..so it was burning it. coolant tank was all oily/coolant mix.:o

looks like I have to put my spare motor in.:th_sick2:

The 2000 GTP is STOCK other than a tune, Wizair CAI, and 3" DP. I hadnt put on the blower/pulley/rockers yet. She had stock boost. I'm kinda glad I didnt put everything on it yet.

anyone else have tis problem? she just turned 102thou......

the funny thing is he was talking like his car was going to blow up. lol. I guess he gets the last laugh!

Point taken. The next time I race someone and they start talking about how their car might blow up, I'm decking them. That way mine doesn't blow up. :D

dude that bites. you got a scan gauge or anything? were you knocking at all? if coolant was in the oil and oil was in the coolant then it probably was a head gasket. if you would have been closer to home and not actually drove it home there may have been a possibility to save it, but that squeal makes me think the bearing went because the head gasket was already gone. i didnt notice any smoking when we were running or i would have said something to you. the last motor i had that spun a bearing did the high pitch squeal thing too then it started knocking at idle (KR) and i couldnt keep the car running for the life of me. it would die just cruising.

it just seems awkward that it would have been running fine up until that point. it is almost like the head gasket was gone as you were driving up. my pops always told me that cars run the best when they are on their last leg.

nope, no knock.... no signs of it was going to let go. it just went.

well. for having less mods, and more people in the car...

It must have been on its last leg. It kicked your butt!! ROFLMAO

not bad for the winter beater though.... too bad it only lasted 1 winter.

That was my luck too...got a good deal and made almost a grand on it when a girl I worked with needed a car more than I did...damn I wish I had it since my GTP ain't running...:th_thumb-down:

im curious how the head gasket went on a stock gtp? i always heard the stock headgaskets(if not ouched or removed) rarely if ever go bad and can go a long way b4 going bad.

That sucks. i have had none s/c 3800 go over 250,000+ miles with out blowing a head gasket. Very odd it went with the low amount of mods you had. im sorry to hear this UR LOSN
