Stop importing cars from oversea's Except maybe austrailia

Drill in Alaska Already we have oil screw what ever wildlife we kill off in the proccess. Tree huggers arent going to like it when theres no oil to power there cars anymore

Start truely educating the youth of america The education systems in america are a joke. Im a product of them and can hardly spell LMao

In a perfect world I would agree with you 100%

But today, we live in a global economy, there is no way we can pull out of everywhere and be an isolationist country. Too many national economies depend on each other, look what happened when AIG, Leehman brothers, and all the others begain to fail....it rippled through the entire world. China would own us with as much of our debt as they have purchased.

As for energy, there is plenty around the US that we just can't touch as the areas. They have been blacklisted as govt protected lands. Unfortunately, people like Al Gore and other tree huggin hippies have more power than most people realize.

Our education system sucks, kids can do what they want with no worries of getting in trouble. Parents are spineless and too stupid to believe "THEIR PRECIOUS BABY" could do something wrong. We need longer school days, longer school years, and more enforcement of schools and accountability of not only teachers, but students, and parents.

Our military is overextended...thanks to Bush and Obama..Iraq is pretty well done, but Afghanistan is a whole different nightmare that we are stuck in.

In a free market society, we as consumers put our own people out of business. We used to make TV's and other electonics..but then it was imported at a lower price and consumers bought the cheaper items.

Taxes are necessary, but more for roads, education, and our military..I am all for eliminating the income tax and going to a flat tax system. The more you make the more you spend...it's really quite simple.

Agreed, we shouldn't have to press 1 for english..

<end rant>

And if there happens to be a war and we blow some city in some iraq off the map LEAVE IT OFF THE map Stop rebuilding its war for criing out loud

It's required by international law. When attacking, you're required to rebuild what you destroy by the interntional community. That's a benefit to precision weapons. Less rebuilding you have to do when it's over.

If we don't want to rebuild, we need to stop picking fights.

Stop sending aid to countries we have our own issues with homeless and starving in this country...

Somewhat agreed, but I also think it is everyone's responsibility to help out in areas of the world less fortunate. If others would help to the USA wouldn't have to do nearly as much and the world would be a better place. I'm not saying they should get a free ride, but enough to get them on their feet.

Stop depending on other countries for our ipods and flat screens bring the work home

Be ready to pay more for these items, FYI. They're more expensive to produce here, plain and simple. You think those companies will take it lying down? They'll just pass the buck on to the consumer.

Stop importing cars from oversea's Except maybe austrailia

So it's beneficial to our economy for our cars to be made in Canada or Mexico but not Japan? How does that work? I should be forced to pay for a more expensive car that can't compete against international offerings? No thanks. Things will never improve for the domestic automakers if you give them that sort of leg up. The domestic automakers need to figure out their business model, stop giving huge concessions to bullsh*t unions, and learn how to make a quality car that is competitive in the global market. And they need to produce them in the US with US parts. Not Canada, not Mexico, etc.

My STI is made in Japan with 100% Japanese parts. That's pride in a vehicle you don't see from the American companies. They need to bring that pride back if it's going to turn around for them.

Drill in Alaska Already we have oil screw what ever wildlife we kill off in the proccess. Tree huggers arent going to like it when theres no oil to power there cars anymore

How about we stop the reckless attitude we have towards the planet? And our complete disregard for future generations' opportunity to appreciate the environment. Let's just keep making a bigger mess for them to clean up.

Or, we should use the outrageous profits from the oil companies to develop a clean and renewable alternative. To hell with government funding. There's enough funding being collected at every gas pump.

Start truely educating the youth of america The education systems in america are a joke. Im a product of them and can hardly spell LMao

I was lucky enough to come from an area with good public schools and plenty of funding, but I agree that is not the norm. I'm near to completing my aeronautial engineering degree, about halfway to a bachelor's in Electrical Engineering Technology, and probably going to pursue a masters after those. The opportunities are out there. The military has paid for every cent of my degrees, as well as all of my training, and the experience. And they'll continue to do so for a decade after I get out with the post 9/11 GI-bill. People need to step up and pursue things for themselves instead of expecting an eduucation to drop in their laps.

Some might not agree, but after my hard work that's my opinion.

Every one and there momma wants to B!tch about paying taxes And they should federal taxes are illegal in the way that they when they originated were suposed to be collected in times of war.. There have actually been beat in court by a few and proved unconstitutional

No federal taxes, no federal government. No defense budget. The states would be on their own. Besides, it would make no difference. The money would have to come from somewhere so you'd be paying for it anyway.

Ok im not going to qoute out every thing up top i was mearly ranting
If we produced our own good yes they would cost more but we would be working these jobs to produce our own goods and canada and mexico are fine I did state over seas
As far as jap, german, and so on for cars well thats what it would take to do what needed to be done
As far as rebuilding places we attack I have never held an ice pack on a guys eye after i knocked him out
As far as taxes go Im more incline for a flat tax system that effects all the same
same goes for sales tax
registration fees and so on
I Do understand that taxes are needed for defense road and so on Im not saying dont pay for the country you live in The wy the system is now is just Not RIGHT

As far as oil and energy Im all for greener way of life but at the same time we have us resources untapped and untouched. The oil industry and us govenment have stopped such marvels as the 100 mpg carburator and other inovations that would create less of a need for petroleum fuels

And where i whole heartedly feel as i expressed in my post I know the system will not change Unless something very major happened

If we produced our own good yes they would cost more but we would be working these jobs to produce our own goods and canada and mexico are fine I did state over seas

But why is that fine? How does it help our economy to have jobs in Canada and Mexico? If you're going to draw a line, go for the whole shebang.

As far as jap, german, and so on for cars well thats what it would take to do what needed to be done

But that's not what will fix it. The automkers will just stay complacent and offer us products that are below the global standard for the money. They would have no competition to make them improve what they produce or drop prices.

As far as rebuilding places we attack I have never held an ice pack on a guys eye after i knocked him out

Pointless analogy. Doesn't change that we're part of an international community. Want to start pissing everyone off? Watch them all suddenly want to collect on all their debts and the US goes bankrupt.

The oil industry and us govenment have stopped such marvels as the 100 mpg carburator and other inovations that would create less of a need for petroleum fuels

You seriouslly believe in the 100MPG carburetor? A little publication called "the laws of physics" prevents its existence. Don't believe every conspiracy you read.

No i dont beleave in a 100 mpg carb but i do believe that there are a whole lot of inventions that have been sqaushed and put into a government stranglehold that we could have benifited from that would have hurt the oil industry
We live with a crooked government that has killed stolen and lied to get where it is...

As far as stop importing goods There are flaws in my logic It just gets frustrating every week another us company closes doors and 1000's are basically kicked to the curb

as far as other countries go and pissing them off Im fine with keeping the peace
But lets say hmm russia strikes and drops a nuke they wont be here to clean up the ruble

stop giving huge concessions to bullsh*t unions
Have to disagree with this statement and no Im not a union member. I do work for Toyota. The union has nothing to do with the crash of GM or any other automaker. Did you know that MOST Japanese automakers are unionized? I don't know for sure but Im willing to bet your Sub was built by a unionized factory. The Japanese just have a better business model. Years of over producing and poor quality finally caught up with them. The blame should start at the top, not the bottom.

The union has nothing to do with the crash of GM or any other automaker.

I wouldn't say that it was solely responsible, but huge demands from unions (compare the demands of the UAW to other unions and you will see) certainly contributed and directly hurt GM's profits. You should look at how much of what they make off a new car goes into people's retirements alone.

No one will be there since that would be a nuclear holocaust... :th_thumbsup-wink:

The unions had a LOT to do w/ the downfall of the Big 3, corporate has to accept responsibility as well though.

Corporate overlooked/underestimated the Asian car companies and their business model/patience. They came in during the gas crunch with **** piles but they were good on gas. That was their foot in the door and they began to find loyal customers. Their cars got better as US cars continued quality continued to decline because they just expected everyone would buy US built cars.

Ahhh, the quality and why it sucked...I grew up in a home where both of my parents worked for GM/Delphi after the sale. I grew up hearing stories of people coming to work drunk, not showing up at all...sleeping on benches..and keeping their jobs because of the UNIONS. One sees another get away with it and its like a bunch of kids..well if he can do it so can I...why should I carry his weight and after while nobody gave a **** about the cars or the quality.

So between the arrogance of corporate expecting consumers to blindly purchase only US built cars and the lack of care/pride of union workers the demise of the Big 3 was imminent.

Not saying unions are bad..but the UAW is as crooked as they get and if you don't believe me...ask Jimmy Hoffa. Unions were needed to get fair wages and safe working environments, not what they have turned into. That's why the plant you work for at Toyota voted to keep the UAW out.
