Personally I don't think he'll move more than 200-300 bucks, but if the car is in awesome shape and no real problems it should be worth the money.

Lets just say it's hard to find a great condition grand prix in the northern states.
 
Damn. Yeah, I get where you're coming from. All the other ones I've found were in the $6000 range. I started to narrow my search into the Illinois area because they seem to be a bit cheaper down there.
 
I'd offer him 4000. He said he was motivated because he got a new car. So that could work in your favor. If he doesn't take it just play the waiting game.
 
Cash is king.. I'm sure if you show up with $4500 or so.. He"ll take it, if he's really motivated to sell it $500 isn't going to make or break the deal. Obviously use caution when caring that amount of cash and have someone with you just in case.

If you plan on travelling for this car I would get him to send more pictures and I would ask about any maintenance done or what it may need. You don't want to make a $5000 mistake. Price is fair if it has been kept up on and doesn't need anything. Above all, don't be afraid to drive away empty handed if the car isn't right. I got burned on mine and travelled for it... tranny took a **** on me 3 weeks into it... seller beat the crap out of it and I am slowly bringing it back to glory...
 
I will definitely ask for more pictures. I'll ask if it has ever had transmission fluid changed, LIM gasket replaced, and tune up in general. My car was the exact opposite of this and it cost me a ton of money to fix. I was thinking $4000 in cash will be enough for him and if isn't, then oh well. I really want a 2005 because of the LIM gasket being metal, but all the 2005's near me are either beat to hell or WAY too expensive. Some were even in the $8000+ range! Too expensive.
 
Just be aware not all the 05 got the metal lim gasket but don't let that be a decided factor since lim can always be done but use that for your negotiations if need be.

Are those S/C LIM gaskets easier to change than the N/A ones? I don't have much experience when it comes to this type of stuff.
 
It's pretty easy..there's a awesome video of it being done that wake you through it step by step. Not sure how it compares to the NA but I imagine it's pretty similar.

Cool! I'm not 100% I'll be getting this GTP because I will still have to sell my current car and buy this one. I just got my estimate on my damage. $1768.87 for it to get repaired. I'm thinking of cashing the check, take it somewhere else that will "bandaid" it to make it look halfway decent and keep the rest of the money.
