GMPP vs. BMR Trailing Arms

I am going to be upgrading my suspension in the next month or so and i have a question about trailing arms. I have gone back and forth between BMR and GMPP and just can't make up my mind. The BMRs seem so much fatter but they are so much more expensive. It seems like the majority of people on here have gone with the GMPP trailing arms and i really can't find anything but good things about them. My question is, how many people have the BMR trailing arms and how do you like them? Is it really worth the extra $80? Do they make the car TOO stiff for daily driving?

Sorry to create yet another trailing arm thread, but i have search and searched this forum and i can't find much about BMR trailing arms.

The other items i want to purchase are the GMPP Front and Rear Sway Bars and either BMR Strut Tower Bars or GMPP Strut Tower Bars. Again, i can't decide...haha.

Thanks for any input you guys/gals have :)

I did the upgrade to mine a while ago with GMPP arms and have no complaints. Went to do a friends last week and they have been discontinued by GM.:( Dorman offers an upgraded arm for 21 bucks a piece through O Reillys. Not as big as BMR but do stiffen it up a bit.

Yeah, they've been discontinued for a while now. You can still find some in the for sale section on this site though. I'm thinking of buying a set from someone on here depending on how much the bill is for one of our other cars that is in the shop right now.

BMR trailing arms are huge, just like the sway bars they sell. honestly for a daily driven GP they are more than overkill. if youre trying to make it handle like its on rails then by all means go for the BMR, but im not sure its worth the extra money over the GMPP.

gmpp here. i dont see any purpose in making them thicker unless your going to be doing some autobahn driving. in all honesty, i think ppl go with bmr cuz they are fancy and color painted.. just like their strut bars

I went with BMR because the GMPP ones were not readily available. In two months time, I changed control arms, trailing arms, struts, springs and sway bars so it's hard for me to say exactly how much change I got from the trailing arms. The factory trailing arms arms are definitely not as strong, but I think the biggest difference will be felt in the bushings. The factory trailing arms have a very thick and soft rubber bushing allowing a good amount of deflection. The BMR bars are urethane bushings and smaller.

I'm going to be upgrading to UMI arms this next week. I'm on a road trip and just happened to find myself driving past UMI's shop in Pennsylvania.

I have the BMR's and they are great. Just change the grease nippes befor you install them, the ones they give you are crap! I love the ride, stiffened it up, but not too much. I changed the trailing arms, and all 4 latteral bars. The BMR's are both adjustable, wich should make it better to set it up for lowering.... unfortunatly I cant afford to lower it :(

BMR's here, love them, and I only bought them because they are red, and cost a lot. :th_jester:

Seriously...I bought them because they are a nice respected brand, and are very well built. Back when I bought them, GMPP stuff was only a wet dream.

I run their adjustable lateral arms, and trailing arms. I still have my stock non adjustable lateral arms installed. The BMR's are beefy enough you don't really need 2 sets of adjustable lateral arms.

You can kinda see my trailing arm in this picture:

Sway bars I actually run the front and rear GMPP ones with poly bushings all around. They are nice, but I kinda want more. Thinking of going with the Next Level ones some day.

For the front, I improved on the factory LCA's and powdercoated them red because thats how I roll.

I also run the GMPP strut and spring combo.

Driving on them you dont really notice any of this suspension upgrade, untill you take some corners fast, then you get that ear to ear grin. So city and highway driving stock or modified...you wont notice much, but playing around, taking on and off ramps a little faster than normal, maybe some auto crossing...ya...worth it.

GMPP's are nice over stock. You can see and feel the difference in the trailing arms over stock before you even put them on. I have installed several sets of them, and I think they are a nice upgrade. Would be even better if there was PLY bushing in them, and have grease able zerks like the BMR's. :th_thumbsup-wink:
