GM Tech 2 scanner?

A buddy of mine that owns a shop has a GM Tech 2 scanner, he told me he used it on his truck ( 04 silverado) and did everything you can with a good tune, changed the shift points, injection curve, would it work on our cars or are they to old? anyone have any experience with one that would know if it would actually work on changing things like the shift points and all that?
 


We used them in school but didnt do programing just scanning everything on anything gm96 and up

you can change some stuff but the tech had to be hooked up the whole time

Its possable theres flashing capabilities there but I dont see how
 
Well my friend said he did it on his truck in no time but he would have to read how to do it on our cars because its older, but I didn't know if anyone had ever used on to tune their car.
 
we trained on it in a gm sponsored program tech2's dont write program maybe thing like coolant fan temp and such but nothing major
