Yep opinion, glad we agree on something! once i get to Oklahoma for training im hoping to get a trans from triple edge i cant sell the car its got too many new parts to sell, all the wheel bearings, Front and Rear brakes, new CV shafts, new Toyo tires, plugs wires and coils are also 3 months old I did all that before I drove down here for military training. My trans may not be smoked yet if I can get it to hold fluid Ill be able to see if 1st is holding or not. I got a new diff cover to put on wednesday after class some how I broke the top ear when I put the new diff in last week.
 
I was about to say if you plan on replacing a tranny again, give Dave and Triple Edge a call, he'll give you a trans that will last. I don't think I could or would trust anyone else nowadays. Hopefully you're trans is alright though.

I can say one thing for sure, no one around here can build a 4T65, believe me, i've done my homework, don't by a trans here, LOL...
 
Didnt notice you were from OK maybe when I get to Ft. Sill well have to meet up. Im gonna be there for 7 months at least starting July. The money will 1st be going to a trans if this one is bad. The shop that built it did a really good job on the 1st one I blew I beat on that car so much, never had any issues. Should have kept the GTP I had before I went over seas.

omg, my dad bought a g8 gt in liquid red with black racing stripes,
19" rims, and chrome accent pieces...that car is slick...and blew

and as far as american vs japanese, i buy american, but my 1st
car was a 92 acura integra hatch. my friend still drives that
car and the only thing thats ever been changed is the waterpump,
timing chain, tires, and belts. since i sold that car, i have blown
up an 87 silverado, and 2 cavaliers and my 3rd is right behind it.
seems they dont like the 200,000+ mark while that acura is almost
at 275,000 without even valve rattle.
87 Silverado - 217,000 no one could figure out why it didnt run. parted out.
96 cavalier 2.2 - 190,000 timing chain jumped
98 cavalier 2.4 z24 - 185,000 thrown rod, perfect service records from the dealer i bought it from's service shop.
02 cavalier 2.2 - 160,000 head rebuilt due to extreme valve rattle and severe drop in horsepower. runs fine now....for now.

but i have to admit, i had fun driving the bejesus outta all of my chevrolets. not to say i didnt beat the acura either. but i prefer chevrolet. except give me a GTR! mwahaha.
 
We all know the the demise of the big three relates to oil, in the mid to late 90's early 2000's with gas between 1.20 and 1.50 a gallon who woulndt want the power of a V8 and it was proven that american cars and trucks had nothing but raw power in the V8, the Jap cars, Nissan Toyota Honda, they all made lighter more efficient cars, a decently powerd 4cyl powerplant, with room to grow and great gas mileage, then BOOM we are hit with 4.50 gas prices, of course the big 3 are gonna fall, who wants a V8 that will take as much gas as you spend on your weekly shop, for Ford, GM and DC to put the brakes on in time and produce more fuel efficient cars was impossible, never in my life would i see a 1990 Honda civic cost more used than a Mustang or a Camaro thats the age we are now in, no one can afford 100 bucks a tank full when you got a strong binge drinking V8. Even our cars with a V6 we have a 18 gal gas tank, i can get up to max 290 300 on a great week, other cars with 13 gal tanks and a V8 please your weeks pay gets you back and forth to work. The only thing GM did that Honda did was the invention of having cyl shut down at hwy speeds, a great innovation, thats what gives the larger engine hondas their mileage, every auto maker should have this, and the mod option for older cars as well,

I think the average person should test drive a vette and then a civic and then choose. People are making a huge deal out of the number and not doing all of the math. "OMG it costs me $250 in gas to go from Nashville to New Orleans 1 way at $4 a gallon" c'mon, gas is $2 a gallon and its still cheaper to fly AND rent a car for the weekend.

Cars, even when gas was $5 a gallon, were a status symbol. Sure a Prius gets a lifetime to a tank of gas, but how many phone numbers will you get with one of those? I'm sure the club girls are saying "he's a catch, he's economical!" Of course you could show up in a fully tuned highly modded Civic and catch a few numbers, but then after everything you've done, you probably could have just bought a Vette, saved alot of time, and gotten the same amount of respect. Didn't see too many guys trading in Vettes for Civics during the gas crunch.

I blame the media and the soccer moms (and dads) that loaded up their Hummers and Navigators with 3500lbs of extra cargo and got 8 miles to the gallon screaming "Unacceptable!"

thats why i said the average person, its all fact, and your right you dont see people trading in their vettes, hell i woulndt trade it in if i spend that kind of money for a dream car, but you DID see the number of used 4cyl go up, people with these monster suv's Vettes stangs, who i only really see now on the really nice weekends for drives, are now driving beaters or decent 4cyl cars to go to and from work, the reason for the mass production at that time was because there was a mass demand for them plain and simple, everyone wanted an H1, Everyone wanted a Jacked up powerful SUV, Truck, Car and the numbers match. and what i said above when the gas "crissis" hit, they were not able to just put the breaks on it, esp when gas shoots up as fast as it did not gonna happen, Also you make the comment on test drive a vette then a civic, im glad you have money, most of america now is in the hole, sure TEST DRIVING is fun and yeah based on a test drive i will take a damn vette hands down, but in the real world, where the economy is horrible, no one in their right mind unless they are loaded or their mommies and daddies will buy them any car they want AND pay for the gas will take the vette over a new civic. Not only are the new civics great peices of technology, but as you said, when you can RENT a car why not just rent a Vette, it will be cheaper now anyway. Do the math, Take the average Vette car payment, add in the INS add in the GAS and then add in the Rental Fee for a long trip, Hello Mr. Gates can i borrow some money? too much in todays economy for anyone, even the rich around here on long island dont drive their lambo's as much because of the constraints of the economy.

Edit: also if you NEED a sweet ride to get a chick then there are more problems than just the car.

We all drive GP not the fastest car on the road, racing a new civic SI will still get more miles to the gallon and its a pretty fast car, everyone on here is way too judgemental over the imports, Im American Muscle all the way, i know fast and i know slow, Slow is the Saturn Ion 3 that is the slowest car i have ever driven, the fastest was a 2000 Audi S4 TT V6, and i will tell you what, we all talk about our KILLS on here, oh i killed that stang or i killed that squirrel driven cart, whoopie doo, we NEVER talk about our losses, and i bet any amount of money that NO ONE on here will ever admit to losing to an import with 4 cyl, it has happend and it has prolly happend to just about everyone on here once, rolling up to a civic that doenst look too bad the next thing you know the turbo spools and you are picking rubber out of your teeth. now if you just lost to a 4cyl honda toyota nissan how the hell can you say its slow, you only drive fast cars, cause i will tell you what, even if the race is close those things are still beasts, then what happens when we are done losing the race, we are filling up our tanks and they keep on going
 
I firmly disagree with the bang 4.50 dollar a gallon gas. GM should have been making quality vehicles to better compete with other brands. My biggest argument is why does GM make 3 different models of the large SUV? AKA Escalade, Denali and Tahoe, 2 different trucks, the Silverado and the Sierra? Same W-body platform cars we all drive I dont think I need to name them all. Nissan Toyota, and Honda dont make duplicates, And I dont see them in trouble. Yes I agree also that all the detroit auto makers should have pushed the technology farther for us spoiled Americans and the huge SUVs. Sorry I love the GM cars Ive had my entire life but Im also deep inside happy with where the companies are today! If there not competive companies let some one else try to make them better even if it includes my tax dollars. Ive never meant or hinted at killing any of the brands.
For the record on my behalf 4.50 a gallon didnt happen over night there are too many factors there and yes it has to do with the economy and corruption in speculating markets!!!

Wow, are you kidding me? WTF are you doing driving a GP then? Yes imports can be made fast, but stock, they're NOTHING like you make them out to be.

I don't see the problem with people who buy foreign cars from companies who have factories in the US. So what some of the profit goes back to the foreign country? Isn't it worth it if it employs thousands of Americans?
 
anything can be made fast with the right amount of money. i give all the credit in the world to a civic that will stomp a vette like its standing still, but the fact is that not many people have enough money to do that.

stock versus stock, usually the bigger motor will win out by a decent margin.
