GM Service Manual DVD

Just wondering if anyone here has used or tried this? Its got repair instructions/bulletins etc for a bunch of GM cars between 98-05. Have used it so far for work on the GTP and the Vette and its been extremely useful and since I downloaded it, I saved ~400$.

I could post a torrent download link if anyone's interested for this but am not sure if its against forum rules.

I have one that I bought. Covers 98-10. Can't tell you how good of a tool it is. Especially when electrical schematics/routing is involved.

How did you (legally) download it? Does GM make it available for free then? I have used it on another forum that has it. It would be nice to have it here as it is a goldmine of information.

Nah sorry brah it definitely isn't free from GM. If you use Bittorrent on the other hand...

I don't know if you can legally download it, but GM can send you a copy through mail-order. That only works in North America though, not here in Dubai.

Agreed. I'm actually going to use it to tap wires for the puddle lights mod you described on my GTP and maybe even on my sisters Vette, if she'll let me :D.

Yeah..that's how I found which wire and on the previous years..which cavity in the door connector that should be put into. Yeah..I'm crazy.

Its a good kind of crazy dude! It helped me isolate the ambient air temp. sensor on the radiator baffle so that my climate control stops driving me crazy.

Please excuse my ignorance, but whats the difference between the GM serv man, and All Data? Which is better for our cars?

Nothing ignorant about it dude, especially since I have no idea about All Data. What I do know is that you have to pay for All Data, and since I'm currently unemployed that's not an option.

For what its worth, I've heard good things about All Data.

All Data has good info, but can be a pain to navigate thru sometimes when you know what the issue is, but just need to know some wires or such. It makes you go thru the whole diagnosis procedure. If you don't know where to start, the All Data is a good teacher. I havn't used the GM Service Manual yet so can't say anything about it. My favorite is Mitchell 1 ondemand 5. I found it easy to navigate and it also has a shoptime quote section so you can figure out how much it will cost or how many hours it will take. Noticed in Pepboys they use it.

The GM FSMs were written by the guys that designed and built the car. Wiring for example is clear and concise in all info right down to "...this wire splice is located 23mm from this piece holding the loom to the firewall.: It's that good. Mitchell aka AllData is darn close. It's my second favorite. Basically it's just a rewrite of the GM manual.
