Gm recall

yeah i read about this on yahoo's front page. That is a lot of recalls. They said there hasn't been any injuries yet and i THINK no engine fires. So is gm going to send all of us a bulletin for the free repair? I had a dakota that had a couple and the dealership fixed it right up for free.

I suppose contacting a local GM dealer may be a good start to find out more information? I bought my GP used, as have many of us... there will be no bulletins sent to me. :)

actually thats not the case, when the first recall went around for the L67's, there were 2nd and 3rd owners that got letters.

i think by law they (GM) has to find the owner and notify them

Correct. It's done through the DMV.

I guess they were not satisfied with the valve cover gasket recall?

That was only for the L67s, this is for the L36s, and they're not even replacing the valve cover gaskets this time. :th_scratchhead:

Oh ok I got ya. Well that does not make much sense now does it.

Called the local GM dealer, next monday im going in to get my valve cover gaskets replaced, The new recall does not effect S/C cars just the l36's

According to the actual bulletin the dealers received, they don't replace any gaskets on this new L36 recall. They simply replace the plug wire retainers on the front valve cover. Here is what GM sent to their dealers:
