glendayle's 99 Buick Regal GS

Hey, haven't been here in awhile but you've sure been busy! I can't believe how much you've been able to do since I saw it about a year ago. I just did my LIM gasket by myself, and after that experience, I'm not sure if I want to do more internal work. Btw, do you have a file with the data we pulled from my car? I think I need to get another base run anyway since I've fixed a few things, so maybe I could come down there sometime when you're not so busy. I'd be interested to see how your Regal is coming in person. I'd really like to get in the other lane at R&R this summer.

Thanks man. This project has taken awhile. I haven't been totally vigilant on working on it, but I'm nearing completion I think. I've gone through a couple of iterations of computers since we hooked up to your car, so I'll have to see if I can still find your scan. We can figure out a time if you want to swing down here where we can pull a file though.

Sounds great, man. Im gonna try to change my passenger cv axle this weekend, it shudders at WOT and there's a tiny crack in the inner boot where most of the grease came out. But if I can finish it by early afternoon, I'd be free the rest of Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Or another time if youre busy then. I work days til around 4 Mon-Fri. Im guessing you'll start playing with your tune after everything is ready for the road, right?

This Sat might be tough unless you can get down here by about noon. Sunday is probably off-limits. I work from home now though, so you could swing down after work some day. Have you changed out a CV before? I've done several of them. If you wanted to come down here I could help you out with that. Shouldn't take more than about 30 mins or so. Are you planning on swapping out end links or tie rod ends as well?

As far as tune for my car, once I get it running I'll load in the new MAF and TB tables. I'll have to drive the car exhaustless down to my exhaust guy in American Fork. As soon as I get it back from him I'll be trying to dial everything in so it runs good(and hopefully fast).

Well I got off early today, not much going on at work. Are you busy atm? I could be there as soon as an hour or so. I did the TRE's recently, so just the CV axle is all I need.

I've got work stuff that will keep me occupied until 5pm. After that I suppose we could try. You've got my number/email. Shoot me a text about 4 so I can see if that's going to work out.

Go pick this stuff up. It's fully refundable. Sometimes you can get the axles without them, but sometimes it's just a biatch. This will ensure a quick pull and replacement. I've had axles where I wasted an hour and ended up getting this anyway. I've also had ones where I just popped them easily by hand.

OK, some progress, fuel lines are in, but in the process I realized that I accidentally cut my evap line out. Thoughts on what to do?! Any assistance appreciated.

thats some nice fuel line work there, top to bottom. :th_thumbsup-wink:

you clipped the vac tube? you could just replace it with vac tubing. i broke the fat hose off the TB, so i used a fat tube that fit the TB, then a smaller one that fit inside the fat tube, and also slid over the plastic line to the evap.

Went out and added coolant and started the car. No evap hooked up. No vacuum hooked up, but it started and made a hell lot of noise on open headers. I need to get to bed so I can try to get a majority of her buttoned up tomorrow. I've got a few things to tighten down and hook up and then hook up my pump controller for the IC pump. After that I'll still have the trunk to finish up as well as confirm the stereo is operating before putting in the passenger seat. I'm going to be out of town week after next, so hopefully I can get my car over to my exhaust guy sometime next week and she'll be all good to go when I get back from my work trip.

Well, good news is she went on her maiden voyage. Sort of at least. I put her in gear and pulled her out in the driveway. Oil leaks. One is coming out the dipstick hole. I think it's because my PCV isn't functional and it's creating a lot of pressure in the crankcase..Hopefully when I do my PCV stuff that will be remedied. The other one looks like I may have done a poor job when I did the oil pan gasket. I'll take a closer look, but it seems to be bad enough that I'll have to fix it right away. I had my buddy stop by to help me button up the last few things. I'm glad he did because he noticed that there were a couple of wire harnesses that weren't plugged in. I may try to go out and plug in the new air table here in a minute.

I did find another. The rear knock sensor was "loose". I noticed when I put the harness on it that it was not very firm. I'm assuming that means it's bad.

Well, I think my PCV issue is fixed. At least for now. I'll have to see if there are any issues when I get to tuning, but at least I can tell that the crankcase is getting air and I'm not having any vacuum/pressure issues.

Next issue. I'm not sure if I have some sort of issue where my SC is not aligned properly, but this happened to my belt. I just started the car and this happened almost immediately while just idling. You can see that the belt has "hidden" behind the idler pulley and that it has sled to the side of the SC pulley. I'm going to take a look at this a little bit closer, later, but I'll have to figure this out.

Awesome build, bill is correct everyone with a GP wishes they had a regal. Other than the whole cutting the dash to shreds to put in a HUD thing that they do. I was wondering how other people mount their frozenboost FMHE's. You really went nuts with yours lol. This is all mine got

Make sure your belts are routed correctly and that all pullies spin fancy-free.

My belts are routed correctly. I'll double check each of the pulleys, but I don't think there is an issue of any of them not spinning easily or binding. It's something to check though.

Sometimes a belt that was folded up for a while will pop off the first time. Looks like it popped off the idler right nest to the crank,.

Hmm, well I'll go put it on and see what happens. it's still in one piece, but once I get this thing solved I'll have to replace it.

I had a slippage issue before - belt was one rib off the crank... learned by watching where the belt scoots while running. Also worth keeping an eye on how hoppy your tensioner is... the belt's gotta be bouncing a bit if it can slide off ribbed pulleys.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the issue is. I think it's a problem with the tensioner pulley or the idler pulley. As soon as the crank rotates, it's just popping off the tensioner pulley. I'm wondering if I have the incorrect belt length or something. Man this is getting frustrating. The belt is staying square on all the other pulleys right now, but it's still getting stuck behind the tensioner pulley and it's basically shredded now.
