• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

glendayle's 99 Buick Regal GS

Well, stepped out for a minute during lunch to look at it again. Ended up taking off the bolt that connects the lateral arms. So at this very moment I'm considering taking those off and removing the spindle from the car. Then it might be easier to deal with this issue. Question. Should I also replace my lateral arms while I'm at it? Is there any performance to be had over the stock setup with say some W-body store or AMS? Also, my lateral arms have not been able to be adjusted because they are seized and one of them is bent. My alignment is within acceptable tolerance, but not perfect. Thoughts?

OK, so someone on the RGS forum gave me the idea of using a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF. WORKED LIKE A CHARM!

Technical Penetrating Oil Showdown!!! - THE H.A.M.B.

Went to HD and got some ATF and Acetone. I just mixed it in a small paint can and labeled it thinking that if it worked, it wouldn't be the last time I used it. I just used a cheap brush to put the mixture on the threads and anywhere I could try to get it in. Beat on it for a minute, but then put the impact wrench back on it again. It started going a little bit. I just went in forward and reverse until it basically drilled out all of the corrosion with the threads. I'll brush some on early when I get to the other side. I didn't even really wait for it to set up. I was going to wait like an hour, but decided I'd just give it a go after like 2 minutes. I couldn't believe it.

So in the meley of beating the piss out of this thing, the parking brake mechanism has fallen off/come apart. I think I've got it put back together, but if any of you have any pics of this mechanism, it'd be helpful.

Got the other trailing arm off and everything buttoned back up. I had to just remove the entire knuckle and hub and then beat the living piss out of it to break loose the corrosion. I put some grease on this time so hopefully that will help. Although I suppose that is just what 15 years will do to some connections that are never removed. I sort of thing I need to replace the adjustable lateral arms. I can get them from RA for pretty cheap, but that one is pretty easy to get without taking anything else off, so I'll do it later.

You may think it's the mixture, it might be that you already beat it for hours. Tough to say. I do know that perserverance pays off.

I suppose that is possible, but I used it on the other side from the get go and the other side was waaaaaaaay easier.

My fuel filter was seized on. I had to cut the tubing and bought this repair kit. I had to bend it to the proper shape.. My 1st attempt at bending the tube did not work out. My tube bender sucked and pretty much kinked the tubing. So I went to Harbor Freight to buy a different tube bender. That thing is awesome. You can see that I did a much better job on the 2nd one. Before I used this tube bender on my new piece I made a couple of test bends on the damaged piece 1st. You can see that it makes pretty clean bends even up to 180 degrees. Best of all, this tubing bender was only $7.

Well, jacked up my 90* AN fitting so waiting for another to arrive. Then I should finally have my fuel system taken care of.

Mounted my amp. Well, hooked it up at least. Because I have to orient it this way for the best fitment under the seat I won't be able to make adjustments very easily so I'll be running it for a little bit without the seat in. Once I have the settings dialed in how I like, I'll secure it in place and put the seat in.

I feel like I'm finally getting close.
Still need to figure out how I'm going to mount my variable pump controller. Thinking about putting it in a box with flexible conduit/loom so I can just put it in the console and pull it out when I want to mess. No idea how the battery is since it's been sitting there for 6 months. My buddy is dropping off a trickle charger in the morning just in case.

Everyone with a GP does!

Nice job. I've been looking for a good bender, will keep an eye out for that one.

I was pretty skeptical. It had mixed reviews on the HF website. I'm sure you have some HF stuff in your garage. In my experience, the jacks and stands and stuff like that are pretty rock solid. A lot of the hand tools are sketchy and I'm pretty much a craftsman snob most of the time. I think our fuel lines are aluminum and it had no problem with those. I was pleased. Made real smooth bends.

Yeah, and I guess it will be getting hot air during the winter. I'm not really that worried about it to be honest. I've had my old amp in that spot for 8 years with no issues.

worked on a couple of minor things. 1st I mounted my variable pump control knob. Then I went ahead and cleaned up the leather on my shifter since I had it off.
