• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Getting To Know the Community - What do you do for a living

I work for the lovely state of MO as an eligibility specialist.

As my title says nothing of what I do: I evaluate and give food stamps and medical assistance to the elderly and disabled, IF they qualify. Mostly it feels like I deal with crazy people all day.

Industrial Maintenance Leadperson.

I do everything from basic mechanical work to hydraulic oil changes to endmill/lathe work to welding and goes advanced as working $100K lasers that we use for welding.

Most of my time is spent on electrical work. Most is 480VAC 3 phase, and we step down to 120V from there on most machines for Allen Bradley PLC's. Fun job, minor stress when we're busy, and I get to work with my hands. Love it.

i work in a "heavy manufacturing" welding shop. we make heat exchangers and pressure vessels mainly, but right now we're making 4 "run of river" power plants for Whistler (BC, canada). its a cool job and i feel like a man when i leave every day hahaha.

Will be starting my new job as Production Coordinator for United Health Group before that was a Level 4 Tech Support for Brighthouse pretty much the end of the line for any cable tv, voip phone, internet, and commercial account problems.

i currently work at best buy as our stores head loss prevention guy. on the weekends i run a car detailing business using nothing but zaino products. as soon as our new store opens in jenks ill be training for a position in our magnolia home theater room.

i am also currently in the middle of getting my bachelors in marketing with an emphasis on public relations. ya im busy alot but i love every minute of it.

I work for DIRECTV. Im part of a management group.
Im the person people call when 1. phone techs cant fix a problem 2. Field techs cant. And when the problem returns. I get the case and at this point it is mine untill the end.
I have direct contact with field ops manager, our own engineers ( who designed our equipment ), broadcast facilities.

And yes i am SBCA certified

So in a nutshell, when a problem cant get fixed...I fix it or find a way too.
Im not the only one that does this there is a small group of us.

Ps....Im a published photographer for one of THERMANLEE magazines :)

That sounds like a job I would like doing. But I want to do field work on occasion as well. I like being able to get out of the office and travel on occasion.

Wow, I feel unaccomplished around you guys, I have an AAS in automotive service, but can't find a job around here(there are like 1000 stealerships in a 50 mile radius) So, I work retail(God D**n Blue and Yellow box) untill I find something better

whatever you do dont give up. I was a certified machanic for 2.5 years until I finally found the best opportunity I have ever had.

good things come to those who wait.

I am in the Navy stationed in San Diego. The squadron I am in is HSM-41, and I love it, reason being is that I am non-deployable!!!! I get one more year of shore duty then I have to go to a sea-going command and the possibility of having to go to sea :( I have been in the Navy now for 2 years and so far its pretty enjoyable, really cant complain about the weather and things to do in San Diego
