All I can say is,
Good luck to people listening at those levels. Its uncomfortable, unpleasant, and worth nothing but bragging rights. Until your ears are shot anyway.
I prefer a system to be as flat as possible from 30Hz-12KHz and produce up to 115-120dB for certain things and I try to keep distortion from the speakers them selves down to as close to 1% as possible. I average 90-100dB in normal listening which is even considered high.
Wonder what THD those DD 10's are producing with an inch+ excursion.. I'm sure double digits. Matt or 1800 care to comment?
wow i wanted some 18's before i saw this lol
I am actually learning a lot form this thread, my bud has a jimmy hitting well in excess of 140's and it is on the verge of not being able to swallow. i want a good ammount of volume and some quality at the same time, but it's a toss up as to what i want to get.
There's an idividual who can hit 150's with a 6.5" and I think he's using a 6th order bandpass.
There's a LOT of science to be learned. It's not just the speaker...it's the installation.
