the owner of the GTP I am buying says the clogged cat cause heat to build up and seize 2 of the pistons...but the car still runs..just runs rough and on 4 cylinders...is this possible? If so..what can I do to fix it..if not..can I get ideas on what it could be? thanks all

you dont say what year it is but a used engine is in the 500 dollar range. if you can get the car cheap enough and do the swap your self its well worth it.

tell the seller you asked around already and inflate the cost of the engine swap to knock the price down even lower, haggle haggle haggle.

i beat the tar out of the guy i got my car from, because all the work it needed was in the 2000 dollar range for a shop to do it all, they wanted 1800 for it, i paid 800. i fixed it all for about 800. now i have a car that blue books for 2500.00. and it only cost me 1600, worked out good for me.:D

sounds like a good deal,
i bought my 99gtp for 1000, 147k miles. it had blown intake gasket/water in oil. and trans was supposed to have hard shifts. (fixed with performance shift) i went ahead and put head gaskets on and had the heads reworked, ported the exhaust side of the heads, and a light touch up on intake ports, 3.4" mod pulley setup, new hoses,plugs,t-stat, and gaskets, spent 800 on everything. drive the car daily and have sence put headers and FWI, and only make about .3* kr

Thanks Scott and 99gpgtp....that was a good deal...Im just excited to go get it....just hope it goes better than my 1st gtp lol
