Getrag to an ls4?

I'd imagine it would work since it uses the 4t65. Anyone seen this done? And is it any different than doing it on a 3800? What kinda programming do you have to do being that the computer pretty much controls the transmission. I'm pretty sure there's a recess for the starter on the ls4 transmissions so that would have to be addressed

I'm not sure that it would be any more money than a built auto. The only issue I see mechanical wise is it would have to be recessed for a starter, which didn't look too bad on an auto non ls4 Trans, so idk how it would be much different on the manual.
The part that I'm most unsure about is the computers. Being that the ls4 has a tcm/tcu.

Why the hell do you people post? Everyone that is talking **** in this thread has probably never even seen a LS4!!!

The PCM stuff is not that big of a deal. The 3800 has no problems running without a happy transmission, and I imagine there are a few ways you could trick things if needed. The fiero swaps use stock ECU's without transmissions no problem.

axles are sorta tough too. Gotta go with a custom mod of an intermediate axle, then hope that the track width is right. You probably are not going to get a full 1 piece axle in there easily.

Anyway, its not too hard, but it is tricky. This is a F40 that has a starter mount on it:

Did I miss ppl talking ****?
Can you explain more about the axle issues if you can or know more?
In all honestly, I don't even have an ls4, but I've been looking for a wrecked car to pull the whole subframe and drivetrain and electronics from.
Every now and then I drive my boss's Pontiac vibe 5 speed and just the manual makes it a blast so I figured it would be great for a swap.
The two real things holding me back at the moment is of course finding the drivetrain locally, and electrical (including how to use all my factory electronics, like the gauge cluster, entire dash, ect

Like dark said good god people google! Fiero guys are like a cult you name it its pretty much been swapped into a fiero. Ive also seen NSX transmission mated to a ls4 in a fiero also.

I'm pretty sure you can find 90% of anything posted on this forum on google... That doesn't make it wrong to ask. If I didn't want to be part of this forum then I would just google everything and all would be good. I guess I'll go on the Fiero forums and do research and ask them...

There is no electrical issues... That has been done and sorted out, its not like you are swapping anything, you are really just unplugging parts of the transmission.

There are about a billion different combonations you can run for transmission, anything 60 degree v6 bolt pattern will work.

Electrical was more about the engine swapping into the car (can-bus, cluster, bcm, etc) than the Trans.
Although I'm not too sure about the tranny either. I was under the impression it was in the communication loop to pretty much control the engine in the newer cars.
