Basically, what you're doing with that 3.2" pulley, is making the supercharger spin faster. When it spins faster, it makes more boost. More boost = more heat. More heat = Knock Retard. Lots of knock retard = blown motor.
We are telling you know, from experience, you are ****ing your motor up. You're demanding WAYYY more boost, and you're not able to get all that air out of your engine.
When the engine detects Knock, it retards the timing, so you dont blow the motor to hell. The less timing, the less power.
Your car would actually be faster with a Bigger pulley. The more knock, the less horsepower you make.
But if you want your car to last, change that pulley, trust us. I blew my motor and it was totally stock, with a 3.8" pulley.
I probably couldn't even put a 3.2" pulley on my car without it showing knock retard.
The whole point to the Safely Modding your 3800 Powered Car, is doing it Safetly.
In order to run a 3.2" pulley you HAVE to have:
An intake- either a CAI, HAI, or a FWI, something to let the s/c get more air in
Headers-Get all that air that's being sucked it out of the engine
Colder sparkplugs- Keeps the cylinder from getting hotter with all that extra boost
A custom tuned PCM- With that small of a pulley, you need to tune the computer so that everything is running perfectly
An Aftermarket Camshaft-It opens your valves longer, letting all that air in/out.
Rockers-If you dont want to run a cam, you'll need higher ratio rockers
A colder thermostat-A 180degree thermostat wont set off any SES codes, but will keep the engine temps lower
Anything less than that, and you're asking for trouble.
Im 19, and I know all about having the "fastest car at school." I raced everyone there that had a fast car, and beat up on all of them (Camaros, mustangs, trans am, prelude, etc) But if you dont treat your car right, you're not going to have one much longer.
