Gen V Supercharger Porting

I'm well aware that the gen V is far more efficent than the gen 3, and I'm getting one soon. So before I take off the gen 3 and sell would there be any benefit from a port job as well as the LIM port on my new gen v? Oh yeah and shold I keep the l67 LIM or get an l32 as well. Someone chime in.

You'll need a L32 LIM unless you modify your L67 LIM. As for the porting, it's useless unless you are opening it up for an inter-cooler.

u can port the inlet. blend and smooth everything on the inside. I opened my gen V inlet up to a 78mm along with the TB Adapter to a 78mm to accomdate my 78mm Billet TB. But as for the outlet, like stated above pointless unless removing H-Bar for IC.

There are gains to be had from porting, and there is more to it than smoothing the inlet and opening the outlet. Contact Stiegemeier Porting, I run Bob's port and I picked up 15 FWHP and 15 FWTQ. I will post some before and after graphs if I can find them.

id like to see this. usually we dont stray away from the normal shape of the outlet port, but ive seen some crazy port jobs on other blowers and always wondered if doing something similar would give noticeable gains. got pictures of how your outlet is ported?

I think I remember somewhere you doing your own work? Let me know because if I get this gen v I want someone on here to do the porting. Might as well do it before the install. Also I hate when people refer to having a ported LIM when all it is is the removal of the h bar. A port job then would include porting the runners, and the intake side of the head? I'm not sure but if this is the case than I will just replace it with a stock l32 unit.

steigimaster does alot of porting for the cobras and lightnings with great success.

with that being said tho, i have not seen to many people gain from porting a gen V but have seen alot LOSE efficentcy messing with it.

To me thats not the correct way to port. It has been proven you lose velocity of air with the larger porting and just the basic h bar removal and 45 degree outlet chamfer seems the to yield the best results.

And that's mild compared to some of Stiegemeier's work. They guy is really big with the Ford crowd, but I don't understand his porting at all. Doesn't mean it doesn't work, it's just beyond me.

They go for all out flow. Now for more power at the track thats fine. But when you are talking about VE and part throttle driving it will suffer because now you are decreasing velocity of the air. I dont think that we need to go that big of an outlet for the 3.8.

yeah, thats what i was getting at. it seems that the 3800 crowd doesnt like to stray from the traditional port that 99% of us have.

It's unfortunate that people don't want to stray away from the cookie cutter port job, how are we going to find out what works and what doesn't when people don't experiment. Where are the shops that have dynos and do R & D on this. I'm not talking about ZZP because the only thing that I learned and you can see when you go on their website is that they are trying to make money. Not that shops are out there just to do that but they lie about info to sell stuff to ppl. I just feel that the l67 still has potential to make more power it's just needs a little bit more R & D. I also know shops have bench tests for the m90, I just wish I knew what worked. As far as the ford crowd with the m114 I don't know why it wouldn't yield similar results with the l67. Then again I don't know how the l67 likes it.
