Gen III to Gen V Comparison



I could see the difference w/ the 40-60mph but not the 0-100. Is it really a big difference. Would you recommend this swap?
 


Sounds different, I don't see a whole lot of difference though honestly and I watched it several times. I doubt with a mild setup up you'd gain much if anything at the track or dyno. Now if you were talking about a seriously built headed and cammed motor and I could see a nice gain with a GenV, otherwise I wouldn't expect much honestly.

Sure sounds good. Now throw on some Headers, rockers or cam, and a Full IC and have some real fun! :-)
 
yeah its kinda hard to tell from the vids but the difference is amazing. i know from a race the gen v setup would put buslengths on the old gen III.
 


Seriously? You just can't tell with videos....you have to see the results in the performance and track times.

With my old ported gen 3 setup, I had no problems running a 3.4 on the street all the time, 3.25 was barely streetable, and required constant attention...with my GenV, 3.2 on the street all the time, and a little race fuel I could run a 3.0.....but that was before the alky.
Basically you may not just see it with the speedo, but if you're spent countless hours keeping a smaller pulley on a Gen3, you'll notice the decreased effort of keeping the engine happy.
Now I've got the 3.0 on all the time, but that's beside the point.
 
I am seeing the same boost #s with a 3.8 pulley as stock Gen 3 owners are seeing with a 3.4 pulley. Same boost #s with less HP loss FTW. Also, keeps the blower within its efficiency range easier.
