• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

gen III or V?

genIII is good for 11s with the right setup. a genV should really only be a LAST mod when you really cant squeeze anymore out of it.

I'm sorry I have to totally disagree. A gen V blower is an excellent mod choice for someone looking to go fast. The design of the Gen V rivals that of the best ported Gen III. They run cooler, and they are much louder!

Why would a ported blower be last on someone's list? When you port a blower or upgrade one you are bringing in more air, last time I checked out stock heads flow nicely and are in no way maxxed out by the stock Gen III. A Gen V or ported III is an excellent mod choice.

because a blower just doesnt add up as far as a power per dollar mod. if you seriously buy a vendor ported blower then youre not very smart from the get go when its pretty easy to port by hand or get one cheap from one of the members on here.

the fact is that a genV is a waste of money for his level. a genIII will do its work just fine.

Well, I have to stick with my opinion on this one and respectfully disagree with you here. Looks like he has headers, I'm sure a downpipe upgrade also, and an intake. A gen V will open his potential up drastically. They run more efficiently, you can push more boost out of them without getting them as hot. Like I said a Gen V is like a fully ported Gen III.

i will never argue that a genV isnt a better blower. it is by far, but its just not worth the minimal gains he'll see until he gets in the 3.0 pulley range or lower. i would never waste $400+ on a genV unless i was already maxed out in other areas to NEED that blower.

What areas are that??? He's got High ratio rockers, looks like he's at teh point where he'll either continue to the next step or stop modding.

Okay, if he could get a ported gen III on the cheap, I will agree. I don't suggest doing it on his own unless he has some type of experience in metal porting.

why waste the money porting the gen 3, just use that money for the Gen V. i wish i had.

a Gen V is 20% more efficient than a ported Gen 3

if you arent an idiot and have the tools you can port a blower for a couple hours of time. if you have a lathe you can do it in 15 minutes.

all it takes is a little reading and the right bits to use on a $50 dremel. it might take a while, but it will work. the main thing you have to do is to extend the outlet to be open on the big end instead of having those square notches jutting into it.
