Geek Alert: Sonic Screwdriver Key Fob?

For those who are lost, the idea is to make a sonic screwdriver- a pretty much omnipotent tool from the BBC series 'Doctor Who' - that can lock and unlock the car, as well as popping the trunk and setting it to panic. If you've seen the show, you already know it would be awesome- if not, just think of it as a technological magic wand.

Unfortunately I can't claim this as my idea, it was just a random comment I read. However, it still sounds like an awesome idea, so I'm wondering, would it be possible to modify or get a remote chip for our car that would fit into an area about the size of an AA battery?

:p
So no ideas? I was thinking a remote about the size and shape of a Nissan or Vibe remote would work, but does anyone know if there's a way to adapt one of these remotes to work with a Grand Prix?

Not real sure what you're trying to do, but if it's to put a remote inside of a screwdriver, go aftermarket. This is my backup remote for the viper5901. Its the same width as a basic screwdriver. If you remove the case, it's even slimmer.

putting a screwdriver in your pocket will hurt when you sit down

Actually, it's something more like this:

Keith, that just might work. I really wasn't wanting to go with an aftermarket system though. Know of any similar remotes that can be programmed to work with the factory system?

Hahaha! Someone beat ya to it Shadow! Not sure if key fobs are encrypted though. That'd be kind of scary if someone could just pick up your fob and learn it.

Wow, I was just about to post that. Where the hell did this week go? Oh well. That was pretty much exactly what I was looking for, only for the car. Also, I'm pretty sure our remotes are RF; there's no beam emitter on the chip, much less an opening in the casing for it. :(

...but, I did find a nifty site explaining how to convert ir into RF...
