Gauges/ Gauge Pod/ Installations

I was thinking about installing a few gauges in the car. Curious as to what gauges anyone would recommend and gauge pods are quality. Also I have never installed gauges and needing to know how complicated this is. If its simple I will do it myself if not I will seek assistance and input is great. Probably looking for Tranny Temp, Oil Press, and Water Temp not sure tho what are the most utilized gauges?

i would skip the tanny temp, i know in the 04+ atleast they have it in the dic, NOT TRYING TO THREAD JACK but i am currently in the same process for my 05 and i have no clue how to add gauges.. i will be adding wideband, fuel pressure, and moving a boost gauge allready installed. goood luck!!

Gauges are good, they tell you good stuff.

Oil pressure is a great gauge, saved my ass once too. (long story, for another time)

Trans temp was nice, but basically un-needed.

Aeroforce is the gauge to get....hands down, most awesome thing I've ever had in the GTP.

A wideband is also another one of those, you really outta have, since it displays A/F ratio, and will tell you lots on how lean/rich the engine is.

Water temp...doesnt the car have a water temp sensor already? Thought that was like, standard on every car nowadays...Unless you're going for an exact temp degree.

Boost gauges are fun, you can make the needle go ape**** too! Plus, it'll let you know about any vacuum leaks, and boost issues.

Installs are pretty simple. Each gauge comes with instructions, follow them. The Wideband is probably the hardest install. Everything else is:
Plug the sensor in.
Run a wire from the sensor to the gauge (sending wire)
Run Remote power to the gauge (+12v switched)
Run ground wire.

????
Profit...Hell no, you're modding a car, there's no profit to be had!

Well, to add the oil pressure gauge most guys remove the factory pressure sensor from the oil filter adapter and install their sender there. Then its just run a wire from the sender to the back of the gauge.

Of course you will have to tap into the lighting circuit as well so you can backlight your gauges. Its really not hard, just take your to make it look good.

*edit* Dammit squid, you beat me to it, lol..

Def. get the Aeroforce since you're boosted.

aeroforce all day its by far the best gauge IMO

i have the piller off of PFYC.com seems to work fine only thing i dont like is its a screw in piller looks clean other than the screw tho

Here's a guy who knows what he's talking about...

Asshole put my gauges in his car!! Tho he did pay me for em, so I guess it's okay. XDD

Get an Aeroforce, Wideband, and either a Boost gauge, or oil pressure, and be very happy.

Just remember tho...It's better to tap 1 wire, 1 time, then to mess up, and have a bunch of wires everywhere.

To do it again. One or two Aeroforces.

They'll do
Fuel pressure with an added kit
Oil pressure with an added kit
WB without any added kits

Although having been there and done a lot. I can say that most of the time fuel pressure and oil pressure are not worth the gauge space. Oil pressure really only matters if you spring a leak and happen to notice or if you fubared an oil change. Beyond that..you are along for the ride. Fueling issues should show quickly on a WB02

And there it is...

My long story...
Shop Fubar'd an oil change
(I was out of state, and well past due mileage wise, so I had a shop do it..they forgot a drain plug and didnt catch the 4 quarts on the ground until I went to move it)...and no pressure..

Saved me a very expensive part that day.

:th_biggrin2: Yes, and they fit and function quite nicely might I add. Even got the paint on the pillar to match up perfectly w/ the light gray. Looks stock.

Don't care if it's just a GT. I want to know if there is anything stupid going on w/ my car, be it oil pressure or voltage. Has turned what could have been a WTF into "ah, crap" over the years, lol... At least when it breaks I know why.

Cause, no cool kids who wanted a fast cars went and bought GTP's...

Only old farts who just said "give me this, fully loaded" which was with the GTP engine.

Also, Bonnies are sexy...I'd love a black one.

which was with the GTP engine.

The Bonneville, Park Ave and Riviera had the Series II NA engine in 1995, and the Series II SC engine in 1996. The W body's were not optioned with the "good motor" until 1997.

More like..the GTP (w bodies) got the good engine from it's bigger brothers. :th_peaceout:
