Gas pump etiquette.

and a waste of good M&M's

but yea I leave my car in place until I've finished with everything. Although if I'm getting other things I do it while the car is filling up.

I'm sorry, i dont mean to offend you, but that's dumb. :D how are you supposed to watch and make sure something doesnt go wrong with the pump if you're not there?

for your sake i hope nothing goes wrong so your car doesnt blow up!

I paid for my time there...and I'll leave when I'm ready. If I see that someone is irritated by my current speed at which I'm doing things around the pump....get ready to wait a little longer.

not offended:). not sure why my car would blow up. Heck the pump clicks off automatically, they won't even operate w/o the EPA seal in the right position, and if I'm going in, I set in on the lowest setting so I can be back before it shuts off. It's pretty rare that I ever go in anymore but the 14 years I was on the road I did this alot.

ever see the signs at every gas station that say you must remain at the pump? It is actually a misdemeanor to leave the pump while fueling. Not to mention it would be real easy for someone to stop the pump and put it into a gas can, or at some stations get there car close enough to take your gas

no signs here. I have seen them elsewhere and I don't leave the car util I'm finished. Lots of people do it here. What bothers me more is the ones smoking a cig while pumping the gas. Although I rarely see that anymore.

Yeah I haven't seen those signs around our area either. The cig thing I just yelled at my friend the other day that was going to do that one time when I was filling up my truck, I was like you dumazz.

also i dislike the people that leave the car running while filling

thats not cool either

I don't do that. I even hold the pump in one hand and gound myself to the car body berfore swinging the pump around to fill up. I get a spark occasionally.
Has any car actually blow up while running and being filled up at the same time? That would have to be a freak thing wouldn't it?

yeah it would but I wouldn't want to risk it, my beautiful self has to stay around and make this world better. haha jk jk

The vacuum system that turns the pumps off is hardly perfect. They fail alot, with the result that they overfill your tank and spill fuel. I've had it happen once with my car, and twice while filling my semi. After that, all you need is one bad wire, one spark in the presence of heavy vapors, and you've got yourself a nice little fireball.

Please don't take it as any kind of comment on what kind of person you are, but the habit is STUPID.

haha, I would'nt take offense. You make a valid point. All of the stars would have to be aligned for that to happen, but it could happen. This is a prime example of why you should'nt shade tree rig stuff up or not maintain you rvehicle. Man I seen some awful stuff people do to their cars.

What I hate is you go in to prepay. Then it takes five minutes to pump your gas, all except the last 40 cents or so. That takes another five minutes as that automatic shut off retard gadget kicks in. All the while you could've had a cup of coffee but no, you can't leave your car to go get some or some psychopath will walk around it wondering, wow is that a pearl paint or what color is that anyway it looks blue then pink then green. Dude, get over it already. You're ugly, and I don't want your grubby mitts on my car.

Or the stupid idiot that sits in the car fixing hair and makeup. I've actually gone up to one such individual after a particularly tiring night at the gym to let her know that no amount of makeup and hairspray would fix her fat butt. She promptly moved.

Oh. Or paying for fuel with change. I do this only when someone has royally ticked me off. I mean seriously. If it's too much for you to wait while I pump my measley 13 gallons, see reference to the full five minutes in paragraph 1, and you gotta' sit there and look all aggravated and blowing on your horn, I guarantee your happy self that I will go in and pay all forty bucks in ones, quarters, nickels, dimes, and pennies. Believe me I have better things to do than to stand there while the clerk has to count it all out, but if I get to annoy you as much as you've annoyed me, then so be it. And if it's a really lovely day out, I'll at the last minute add a stupid snickers or something just so you'll have to wait on me to count out another 56 cents in pennies.

If it's busy and you've finished pumping but need to pay (or just want to buy a drink), move your car away from the pump and park it! Other people shouldn't have to wait for you to move after you're finished.

I never heard of a drive off for pulling 30 feat ahead and parking to pay. I ahte when people leave the car at the pump, make a coffee, shop for a snack and get lotto.
The other thing I hate is people who dont pull to the furthest pump so the next car can pull up to the pump behind them.
Since moving to Charlotte I see stuff like this all the time. I dont think anyone has any respect for others here. I have almost been hit about a hundred times because they seem to have never learned what a Yield sign means. they blow through them and flip you off! The other danger is pedestrian crossings at a Walmart. My wife had her cart hit/bumped by a car that didnt yield for pedestrians. She even had the kids in the cart. the woman in the car had enough nerve to make a comment to my wife. My wife along with some choice words pointed to the "Yield to pedestirian" sign right next to her. The woman then drove off.
I had a guy pull out accross 4 lanes of traffic causing the other lanes to lock up their brakes, and luckily for my good brakes and reaction I avoided hitting him. I pulled up next to him and asked what he was doing. His reply was "whats your problem you have breaks dont you?"
Ignorance is a disease running rampant! Charlotte seems to be the worst of everyplace I have lived. Reason why My wife and I are moving this summer.
Sorry to hijack the thread and get off subject.

56 cents for a Snickers! Where do you live? If I could get a candy bar that cheap, I'd have myself a big fat a$s. Hell yeah:)
I agree! People are so rude. We need to all live in our own little community together.

Heck yeah 56 cents? I wouldnt fit nto my GP LOL

You are culturally deprived if you are paying more than 56 cents for a snickers. They are only 3/$1 at the Wal Mart. What's funnier is I pay $1.80 for an Oh Yeah! wafer bar from the bodybuilding place (when really what I want is the snickers).

What I really need is to wash the car. Maybe that's why she's mad at me.
