Gas Brands

so long as you try to stick to gas stations that have a fair amount of traffic you'll have no issues. if their tank sits for an extended period of time it'll break down and be "bad".

and never go when the truck is there filling the tank. NEVER.
 


93 octane only. BP mainly but if Kroger has the better price then I'll use that. A .3 discount sometimes just "looks" better even though it won't really matter in the total price.

Whatever is cheapest, you'd be kidding yourself to think they are any different, more than once I've seen the gas truck go from our local Mobil right over to Texaco, Marathon or a Speedway. How do you think Sheetz or Walmart gets their Gas?

That's a good point. The guy at my local BP claims that he can get his gas cheaper from someone else but if he gets caught then he looses his contract with BP. He claims his gas costs him more that's why he is not always the cheapest in town.

Somethings different between the brands. I've run a Gate a few times and lost some mileage with blips of knock. Go back to Shell and the car is better.
 
I fill up at a local station becasue they have 89 for the same price as 87 on tuesdays, thursdays and sundays. The silverado and the venture give no cares about quality of gas since they are old dd's
 


The only Hess I pass has a crappy store, rejects my debit card 50% of the time, and the pump doesn't stay on.

If you're busted, I recommend you stay away from those gas stations.

My car sees more KR on Meijer gas. Been told it's not the "best" either.

I always stick with BP or Shell V-Power.

i'll try bp gas on my next fill up because i'm actually seeing worse gas mileage with 93 oct from meijer which i was hoping it'd be the opposite
 


I only use Shell or BP gas. I've always done that. Even when I took the grand prix all the way to vegas and back I never stopped at any other kind of station. Even in my buick rendezvous DD/winter car I stick to bp/shell 90% of the time. Theres been a few fillups at family fare due to their badass discounts but other than that its mostly shell/bp.

Training myself pretty well for the inevitable future E85 switch I guess. XD
 
I use Petro Canada 94 ( Formally Sunoco ) witch is E10, car likes it but gas mileage suffers. I use to use Shell 91 which gave me great mileage but high knock numbers. At 5.56 a gallon for 94 it hurts
 
I use Loves as often as possible, 93, usually rivals for cheapest in the area, 100% gas, not 10% ethanol...
or they lie.

Either way the car runs great, good mileage, love the people, they know me there.

If I'm out and about in another area I usually stick to Shell or Mobil stations.
 


I prefer Shell and Mobil, those are the only two "Top Tier" brands in my area, but Mobil is disappearing fast. I manage a Sunoco station, and I will buy gas there because its always fresh, we go through 30,000 gallons a week. Here in New England (Maine especially), Irving is gaining a bigger presence with Mobil going away, their gas is "ok". My grandmother is convinced that it gets worse mileage, but I ran a road trip on it once and got 29.5mpg.

The only brand I avoid is Citgo, but thats from a political standpoint, I don't support the Chavez regime (although thats up in the air now).
It really grinds my gears that all gasoline in Maine is now E10. I want ethanol free!

Kroger rewards card gives you .10 per gallon off on Shell here.

Here is a list of 6 stations in Maine that supposedly sell ethanol free. However they are all only 91 octane.

I use nothing but Shell Vpower but Chevron is just as good with their Techron additive. One thing for sure though is that all gas is not the same. Yeah It's all usually on the same truck but they do have their own barrels which contain their own specific additives.

Don't think that Costco or Walmart has Shells Vpower(Nitrogen detergent) or Chevrons(Techron additive) in it. You do get what you pay for(as with anything). And please get Premium...your manual recommends it, the motor loves it, and its only 30 cents more(max) on each gallon between regular and premium(and that's at most gas stations).

At the end of the day our cars will run on anything but that doesn't mean your motor is healthy(carbon build up, complete combustion, heat/cooling, and most importantly KNOCK RETARD). It's our preference though.......
