FWI: recommended tube size for FWI?

Right now i have a 4" HAI because i couldnt fit the tubing into my fender, so i just kinda gave up. but now im hearing a smaller size would be better for N/A motors because they want a higher velocity, not more volume. so would switching to smaller tubing and put it into my fender be beneficial? it also looks like crap so id like a FWI, but not if its worse.
