FWI Question

I'm looking at putting the fwi on and I was wondering, is it possible to just leave the rubber part that comes attached to the throttle body on and just use this rather than buying the elbow and coupler? it looked like the inside diameter was 3.5" or something, at least that was what the diameter of the air box going into it was. So could I just run some pvc pipe into this rubber part and forget about messing with the couplers?

The TB is 3.75 inches. If your talking about the rubber flex pipe I guess you could. But it would not be the ideal setup. If you do just make sure you get the right size pipe.

yeah I'm talking about the rubber flex pipe if that is what it is called. Sorry for the bad description haha. Would there be anything wrong with setting it up like this? I mean as long as the pipe is the right size it would be ok wouldn't it? And I wouldn't have to relocate the IAT sensor.

It's ok lol. But yeah it's not going to hurt anything doing it like that.

this is what i did on mine, i have a 3-4 inch coupler. the 3 inch side goes inside the flex pipe and the 4 inch end goes on the outside of my 4 inch PVC pipe. just make sure you use the hose clamps.

I did that with mine when I first got my car...

I just bought some 3.5" pipe (I think?) and ran it into the stock rubber TB adapter...eventually I went with a LS1/Cam/Headers and now just have the filter bolted to the TB...it won't hurt it at all...it'll just benefit you more to get a better flowing adapter IMO.

cold air is beneficial, but so is flow....... one of the nice things about a FWI setup or the PVC make your own is that there is not much turbulence(sp?) from the rough inner pipe such as with flex pipe or others..........much smoother flow. Of course if you bolt it on your TB then you get maximum air volume, just higher temps........fwiw

^ really? u seem like someone that would swear by the cold air in the fenderwell.

Fenderwell...whats that? :p

I got too many mods to care about intake placement.
