FWI intake

Im debating whether or not to buy an intake and if I do I decided on the fenderwell intake from zzp. Anyone have this and can tell me how well does this intake Fit/Look/Work? Now I know im supposed to search around for this but honestly I did and I feel overwhelmed from all the different opinions. Some say it doesn't add any power at all. Also im not sure if id like the loud suction sound on startup might be embarrassing around people everytime I start my car. I would like to hear the blower though. Im not sure id want to make my own "home depot" intake im afraid it will look like crap. If I have to hack up my fenderwell and worry about the ecu sitting right I don't think I want to get it either. I also have a 97 so would my coolant bottle get in the way?

Yea I thought about that too but living in vegas where temps around 100 are the norm for 4 months out of the year I don't even want to think about the underhood temps that will be sucking in.

Don't waste money on a vendors FWI. its a waste of money. A cone on the throttle body has been proven to make the same power as an FWI, because the heaton m90 turns even cool air into super heated magma. If you really want one, make your own, many have done it with simple parts for under 100.

LOL, and once it hits the blower...it's a billion x magma.

You aren't going to get any cooler temps by doing a fenderwell.

You want cooler intake temps, move to a colder climate...get an intercooler, or meth inject it.

There is a good sticky going over the dyno results using an actual cold air intake box setup and just an open cone. I'll let you read it and decide but open cone on end of throttle body wins and is easy. I know a fenderwall is a little different but I still don't think the difference will be much. Both will suck up hot air. Nothing you can do about that living where you do.

Some guys will spend $150 or more on plastic rails for their roof. Doesn't make any more HP or the car any faster. I personally don't like the way an open cone looks. That's why I built my FWI. Do what YOU want.

Yes I know both will suck up hot air but the air in the fenderwell will be near ambient and the air under the hood will be much higher

the air in the fenderwell is also a monsoon of water getting thrown directly at the air filter anytime you drive in the wet.

unless you puled down the fender liner and shoved mastic pans in there to plug the holes that let the tire sling water into the forward fender.

its sucks to throw away an Lq4 maf when it corrodes to **** (if the filter doesnt rott away too)

Everyone's situation is unique. Taken from Wikipedia:

  1. Annual precipitation in Las Vegas is about 4.2 in (110 mm), which on average occurs on 26–27 days per year. Most of the precipitation falls in the winter, but the wettest month (February) has on average only 4 days of precipitation.
