• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

FWI install nightmare

I honestly wouldn't even worry about IAT temperatures.

Mine are usually 15-20 degrees above ambient temperature with home-made FWI while driving but even higher when with stop and go driving / idling.

When dropping pulley sizes, every car reacts different. I'd suggest putting in some new AL605 copper plugs, new wires, 180* thermostat, coolant flush if you haven't done that yet (Or if it needs it), and even a new fuel filter to be on the safe side. Hopefully you have some kind of scanner, such as an Aeroforce. When dropping to the 3.6, scan for KR and see what that car does. IAT temps wouldn't be my main concern, at all.

I probably should've mentioned my mods which I all did in the last couple weeks. Plog, 3 inch catted downpipe, zzp pcm, 180 tstat and I did do a coolant flush got all the dexcool out and nice fresh green stuff in, 97 to 99 coolant tank swap and yes I did a new fuel filter as well.

I read a couple posts the stock plugs are still fine with up to a 3.6 pulley and since I have only 40k miles the plugs are still In good shape. What worries me is I saw a kr vs iat table somewhere last night (now I cant find it of course) and it seems the pcm starts to pull timing at 122 degrees. Im almost positive with my setup and constant 100 degree days in the summer the iats will be WAY over 122 and with the stock intake im guessing it would max out right around there.

I scanned for kr and im not getting any right now But im sure that will change in the summer with the 3.6

Update: I had an itch to reinstall the stock intake and compare the iat's. To my surprise the stock was only about 10 degrees lower while driving around town at 40 degrees ambient 70-80 compared to 80-90 with the fwi same thing when sitting still as well 110 to 120 after several minutes of sitting. I don't understand all these posts about peoples iat's almost ambient with the stock intake. I guess its back to the fwi for me.

Actually im a long time 3800 owner I had a another 97 gtp back in 2007, and yes I see where the exhaust routes that's part of the reason my zzp throttle body heat shield came in the mail today lol

The radiant heat from the crossover is pretty hot and the throttle body is right on top of it, it has to help a little bit

wowitsfast: no I didn't cut the bracket out from the inside of the fender (nor do I want too) that's whats stopping the filter from going in all the way and scotty my mind will feel good knowing the throttle body isnt absorbing the heat from the exhaust that's all. I didn't even really loose money I had a 50$ core credit and didn't know what to spend it on. I already have everything else I want

Well thanks, I am a bit ocd so im pretty picky about everything looking nice the zip tied pcm is what bothers me the most.

lololololol, heat shield.

Does absolutely nothing.

Same with TB spacer.

Actually bad for the car, blocks coolant flow.

But hey, the scene is full of knowledge.

Your intake is like it is cause your filter still suckered from the engine bay you didn't seal the filter in the fender well. So until then you'll have the same results

The HEAT created by the SC, let alone while spinning at higher speeds with pulley drops will OFFSET anything you do with your air intake outside sitting a block of ice on top of the SC. Lolz... Come on guys, listen to what people are trying to tell you.

Lol... Heat shield!
: )

This is the exact reason I tell everyone to run an open cone. It's not going to make a sh1ts lick of difference because once you get moving, the IAT's will plummet...Unless it's a billion degrees outside anyways; then we're all dead and no one will care. Also, no one races at a standstill or in traffic so don't sit there and preach about stationary IAT's.

I gained 200whp with a tb spacer.

:D

I blame the things you stole from the dentist, lol.

The colder/denser charge makes no difference when the M90 is turning all the air coming in to magma.

Point, case, closed.
