The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.
I have a 97 grand prix gt my fule gauge seem to be accurate until I get to about half a tank then the gaue is everywhere it fluctuates but usualy ends up reading full any one have any idea what's going on?
Sending unit in the fuel pump housing in the gas tank right in the trunk in front of the pass through in the back seat under the carpet under the oval-ish cover with about 10 10mm nuts would be my guess. Like the contact surface below half a tank is not making a good connection. Personally I would deal with it and just keep gas in the car... But I'm tired of throwing money at this thing, maybe your not lol
Easy fix. I picked up the fuel level sensor on EBay for $24.95 shipped and received it in about 3 days. I couldn't find the part anywhere else. GM and the chain auto parts stores want to sell you the whole fuel pump assembly to the tune of $250 to over $500.
I'm one to run my gas supply close to empty so not fixing it wasn't an option! It is easy to replace if you know how to get into the fuel pump assembly. It clips into the outside of the fuel pump canister and you do have to pop out the pins from the pump and replace them in the new connector that comes with the new part. You do have to swap the float assembly onto the new part. If you use search on here, I'm sure you'll find a write up on the fuel pump or even this exact repair.
I found it from Global Automotive, NEW FUEL LEVEL SENSOR (FUEL PUMP SENDING UNIT) SK1195. Hope this helps.
