fuel rail/injectors

Ok so I'm getting new injectors today and I was looking at the fuel rail. I have the l36 In a 99. If I'm looking right each bank has seperate fuel rails then? Only two bolts holding them to the intake right? Then the Evap system.. how do I release pressure in the line so I can replace the injectors?

theres a shrader valve, much like a tire air valve on the rail, put a rag over it, then push the valve, the gas will drain/spray a bit.

theres 4 bolts holding the rail down to the lim in the 4 corners take them off, un hook the injector plugs, then pull the rail up, the injectors will stay in the rail and pull from the lim. now theres a clip under the rail that holds the injector in the rail, pull the clip, yank the injector. replace it and the put the clip back.

you'll want to lube the o rings before you put them back in the rail or the lim with oil or Vaseline. clean the lim holes where the injector go too, Q tips and brake cleaner works well. i spray brake cleaner into the cap of the can, then dip the Q tips into the brake cleaner then wipe the holes out. you may need up to 20 Q tips or more.

There's like a metal clip that is on top of the injector like right at the top of the injector and the connector

Oh ok I'm getting ready to do this In like two hours just getting ready. Should I even mess with that metal clip then?

if your changing the injector the clip has to come off. its just a C clip. it locks the injector into the rail. it slides right out.

it may need a little prying to get out. it slides out horizontally. so from the side pull on the lip there on the clip.

I see the c clamps on the fuel rail connecting the injector. How do I disconnect the wiring harness from each injector?

what year you got? typically you push in a little clip on the plug, them pull up the part on the side of the plug. the first step unlocks the plug.

So with the different connectors if I get the injectors from a different year series 2 like say I go to a pick yard and I grab from an impala or regal will it matter?

they should be the same, but bring one of your injectors, make sure it plugs into the car your taking the injectors from before you buy them from the junk yard.

Ok so I replaced two injectors with newer ones and the car didn't really change its tune much. Didn't shake as much when almost at a complete stop but then I got the bright idea of check the sparky. So I pulled out number 5 And its black as In burnt. Not wet just black and looked like a small deposit of carbon on the porcelain. So I went out and got a new plug. It gets up and goes better but still a hesitation and still shakes when coming to a stop? Are the rings going bad? Or the manifold gasket?

Or your valve cover is leaking oil down the block and seeping through the threads into the plugs.

Replaced my valve cover gaskets, wires, and plugs.

Picked up 11mpg. LOL
