Fuel pump question

Yes. A '98 pump will work in a '97. The only difference I found was the pressure sensor that doesn't exist for '97. Pump and assembly are otherwise identical. I'm currently using a pump from a '98 in my car. If you buy new, it's cheaper than the older unit, also.

Darn... I was too slow...

Well, don't have too much fun putting the new pump in. At least you know what else will work for future reference.

yea haha thanks for the info! Its not too hard replacing the pump right? all you have to do is take that cover off behind the back seat that covers the pump, and basically just pull it out and replace right?

Yes its pretty self explanitory once you get that trunk trap door off. Mine had a lock ring that had to be tapped out to get the pump removed. Not sure how the older GP's are though.

That lock ring is a pain.. just be careful when pulling it out that you dont knock any rust or any debris into your gas tank.

i hated doing the fuel pump. I know for a fact the connector on my 97 is different from my 99, the 97 has a single plug where the 99 has a dual plug. Ive never seen a 98
