fuel pump kill switch

hey everyone

going to start going to school in Detroit pretty soon and just watched the chrisfix kill switch video and im thinking about doing one to for security measures he wired the switch to the fuel pump relay and it looked pretty clean but since I did the fuel pump rewire and there is a wire for my fuel pump already running thru my center console could I just put a switch directly on that wire? this way I wouldn't need to buy and run anymore wire than I have.

let me know of anything I should be aware of like maybe the right amp switch or something I would still have the relay hooked up so the car would work like normal with the switch on just turn it off in public places I cant keep an eye on my car in.:th_thumbsup-wink:

yea haha went to mott and Macomb for my associates now im going to be taking classes at Macomb and wayne for the bacholers and ill be taking mostly night classes to there so id like the extra safety especially since grand prixs are a hot car to steal around here even though they are like $2000 cars lol

ZZP's instructions won't load, so I will assume that the wire(s) in your console go from the pump to the relay? Positive or ground? If ground, any low amperage switch will work. If positive, a hi amperage switch will be needed (see fuel pump fuse for appropriate amperage).

Just found Casper's instructions, and they use a 20amp fuse, so you would need at least a 20amp switch. I'd go 30amp if possible.

cool I will be using the positive wire for the switch and I believe it goes straight from pump to relay and ill be putting the switch between there and I can do a 30 amp no problem just double checking that there wont be any issues running to high of an amp on the switch correct? since ill still have the fuse and relay recommended? just making sure im an electric noob and will it get to hot I plan on mounting it in the center console and I don't want it to melt the plastic haha.

also the walbro died on me im using the zzp AEM 320lph e85 pump so I don't know if that has any difference regarding amperage

Pump doesn't matter. As long as the switch you use is rated for the appropriate amperage, you will be fine. And a 30amp switch will do perfectly.

sweet thanks for the response and the patience for my silly questions lol ill probably order one on my next amazon haul they seem pretty cheap on there

I just ordered these

https://amzn.to/2VRickg

I liked they have a red light to match the other button lights in the car this way it wont look so "kill switchy" haha plus they are 30 amp and come out to $1.20 a piece im sure I can use the other ones in the future. just confirming they can work well.

Those are fine, as long as they are 30a. Don't forget you will have to run a few extra wires to make it illuminate.
