Fuel Pressure Regulator Help

Ok, so I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT with the 3.8L V6. It had been running a little rough and occasionally dying when I would be driving. I narrowed it down to the FPR, and bought the part today. Well my problem is, I am having trouble removing the old one. I tried to find instructions with pictures today on the net and have not had much luck. Any help would be appreciated as my car currently wont start, turns over, just wont start. :th_depressed:

Remove snap ring, remove with FPR with pliers in a twisting and pulling motion.

Lube new one with vasoline

Install in reverse.

How do I get that snap ring off? It looks like it should be easy to do, but I was having trouble with doing it yesterday. It looks as though you should just be able to pull that old one right out.

Well, the best way is with a snap ring pliers. You can't just pull it out, there's that snap ring with the 2 holes in it, you need to stick something in those 2 holes and squeeze the ring.

Ahh, that makes sense. Thanks man. I will go pick up some of those pliers today!

Alright, I got the part on and the car started right up. Now though there is quite a bit of white smoke coming out of the exhaust when its running. I know I am in need of an oil change, but I'm not sure I should be seeing all the white smoke...

white smoke usually means coolant. Most likely an intake problem, either LIM gaskets or the UIM warped/cracked.

Yea, well the white smoke is gone now. I just took it up and got its oil changed. Its running rough though, and when I go to accelerate from a stop it is very sluggish. This car is driving me nuts!
